Excellent staff, improving hotel and a solid stay in downtown Montevideo

We stayed in a double room and overall the experience was very good. The location serves a lot to get around the center of Montevideo, close to the most practical area of the city and several useful points, so on that side it has good value. The atmosphere in the lobby and at the entrance is better than one might think at first: it feels spacious, neat, and you can tell that the hotel is doing improvements and small remodels, which gives it a sense of place that it is lifting. The best thing about the stay, far away, was the service. All the staff were ready to help at all times, and when we needed to print a document they solved it without charging us anything, avoiding us to leave and go through that process. That kind of concrete help adds up to a lot. The cleanliness in the common areas was fine and the hotel overall gave a neat impression, but inside the room some sheets and some furniture looked old and stained, so clearly the rooms still come behind the lobby as far as updating. As for amenities, it has the basics and useful for a short stay, including breakfast, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TV, minibar, safe, parking and 24-hour reception. The noise also deserves an honest mention: because it is in a central area and because the hotel seems to continue with partial improvement work, I would not say that it is a totally silent place, especially for someone with a light sleep. Even so, I felt the value for money was good because the staff held the experience, the entrance and lobby already show a good image, and the hotel conveys that it is going in the right direction.

We had a wonderful stay at Balfer’s Hotel. The staff were all so kind and provided us with exceptional service during our 7 day stay. The rooms were clean as well as all the common areas. The breakfast every morning was fresh and delicious. We are so happy and we will definitely be back.

Room was clean, the window was covered at night there was noise on the street.
Secured parking. Breakfast was good, lots of pastries, cold cuts, fruit, yogurt all kinds of coffee. Staff very friendly. Very good location

Right.

A hotel stopped in time, a good breakfast but would need k to reform the rooms and the general aesthetic of the hotel. Reminds you of Uruguayan hotels of the 1980s
