Great modernist hotel in the city center on the Dnipro hills
A bit chilly in winter, but windows are huge and offer a great look over the city outside
Rooms neat and clean, everything inside is new. Staff is nice.

A groovy 70s Soviet design hotel in a reasonable location
I couldn't make my initial night, so emailed and called to rearrange (with no reply!). Although when I walked past the hotel two days later, the receptionists were very forgiving and took pity on this poor Brit - Booking me in for a few days time instead. Suggest that the management ensure email and phones are replied to!
The hotel itself is fun - Try running down the 'stairs' to reception instead of the lift. You'll be dizzy before hitting ground level. Quite something after a few pints!
The rooms are pleasant enough, clean and modern. Very clean. AC is powerful and effective although quite noisy. My room overlooked the pioneers palace and wasn't so great for views - So I'd recommend overlooking the park instead. Modern city planners have ruined the views by building a massive apartment block to the north.
No breakfast supplied (nor available, it would seem!) - This is unusual for a larger Kiev hotel, so perhaps a result of lower numbers in the pandemic? Price needs to be lower for this omission.
Reception seemed to be in power-saving mode, as all the lights were permanently off and even the poor receptionists were sat next to a three-bar to keep warm. Bit of a creepy welcome, frankly. Better option is the Hotel Ukraine on Maidan. Not much retro/interesting left at this establishment!

Terrible soviet stile, back to the USSR
The only plus - the location. But this is really the only plus.

Oh it really REALLY could be 5/5 - what an absolute waste.
Issues
* The hotel BADLY needs some work doing to it. The interior clearly hasn't been updated for many a year.
* Soundproofing from the room was horrendous. No I do not wish to listen to the poor house cleaners doing their job. The door in particular was very thin.
Summary -
This hotel just strikes me as totally unloved - it's a REAL in my opinion shame.
Given the price - there are far better options in Kiev.
It's up to this hotels owners what they want to do - nothing - or do what ultimately at some point requires doing - give the hotel some love and get it going properly.
I would love to return in 2/3 years with the hotel all singing all dancing and the interior match the exterior.
I would love to give this hotel 5/5. At the moment, I cannot.
