Nature at its very best in a perfect location.
Selous River Camp surpassed all expectations. The location is wonderful right on the river bank. Staying just at the end of rainy season made travelling slightly more challenging, but more than compensated for as few tourists, lush, green bush, and masses of wildlife . It’s an exceptional, well run camp with lovely staff, food and accommodation. Heaven! It will lure us back for sure.

Don't stay at selous river camp! Much too expensive
The accommodation is bad...huts in mud and straw without air conditioning....problem is that it is too expensive....breakfast and food is good....

Selous River Camp’s accommodation includes traditional-style bandas —structures built with natural materials, including thatched roofs, designed to connect guests with the surrounding bush and river environment. We recognise this style of accommodation isn't for everyone, and we always aim to be transparent about what guests can expect before they arrive. On air conditioning: bush camps in Nyerere National Park are intentionally open to the elements — it's part of the immersive safari experience — but we do take guest comfort seriously and appreciate the feedback.

Safari
Had an amazing time! The staff was very friendly and the view overlooking the river was spectacular. I went for several game drives and boat safari. The guides Josef and Aubrey was excellent. Despite being in the green (low) season we managed to spot most game. Including several sightings of the beautiful painted wild dogs. Finally a big thanks to manager Abdul. You made me feel very welcome. Asante Sana!

Recommend to stay here while visiting Selous
We stayed here for 3 nights during our self-drive safari in Selous Game reserve. From the time we arrived until we left, Abdallah and his team made us feel welcomed and it was a joy to stay here. Everyone was super friendly and easy to chat with. The close location to the eastern gate was an advantage and the view over the river when the sun was setting after a long day in the park was fantastic. The food was excellent and plentiful, even the lunch basket was more food than we could handle. We can definitely recommend to stay here!

An unforgettable experience
We stayed 4 nights at the lodge.
It was a wonderful time. The location of the lodge right on the river is beautiful. The team was very warm and competent, the food and drinks very delicious.
The safaris in the national park (the entrance is right next to the lodge) were an unforgettable experience, also thanks to our great, experienced guides.
We would always come back or recommend this lodge without restriction.
