Vert nice place, great location and very good service for a nice price.

My wife, my daughter and me wanted a place near a major road in Hualien, so we could walk around the whole city from a quiet spot.
This B&B provided just that. It was very clean, with good service, great air conditioning and we could reach most of the city just by walking, including the beach and the central market.
The B&B is on a small side road, so it is really quiet at night, but near a major road and not far from the center of town.
We visited in July 2015, and it was hot and wet, but the city was just lovely.

Encounter Hostel was GREAT!! I would definitely stay again! The place was about a 7 min taxi ride and it was clean, big, and airy. Four people stayed and we had nothing but praise for this place. The owner, Mr. Wang and his employees went out of their way to accommodate us. He even helped us with our other problems at our different hotels, staying on the phone with us (we speak very little chinese) and even bargaining prices for us! You don't get that just anywhere!

Best Beds in Taiwan!

Honestly I can't say enough about how great our stay at Encounters was! Our rooms were spacious and comfortable (seriously, that bed was the best rest I had the whole trip), they had a full kitchen and laundry services, and the owner and his staff were super helpful!
Finding it was a little hard so make sure you get a bit of research in first (though simon gave us very clear directions from the train station). And like most of Taiwan, there was some language difficulty, but all of the staff were willing to work through it until we understood :)
