Excellent hotel, brilliant hosts, wonderful location
I loved my stay at the Hotel Sporting. Nestled on the edge of a pretty Swiss town, the hotel is directly opposite a gondola and commands incredible views across and down the valley.
I was met by the owner who spoke wonderful English and couldn’t have been more helpful. She knew I was there to go hiking and so had taken the time to put a pack of useful information together for me.
My room on the third floor had a fantastic, private balcony with table and chairs that made the most of the beautiful views across the valley. Waiting for me was a bowl of fresh fruit and bottled water. The room was large and very clean and the bathroom had an excellent shower. This is not a luxury hotel but it is not budget and the room more than reflects the price.
I ate in the hotel on both nights and thought the food was great. This was matched by excellent service! Breakfast was extensive with great coffee and plenty of warm, tasty bread from the town bakery. The cheeses and yoghurts from the cheese factory in the town were lovely.
There is plenty or tarmac parking around and behind the hotel. I usually (though not this time) travel by motorbike and the hotel has 2 lockable garages that are available if you’re on your bike. And the roads close by are amazing!
This is a great hotel that provides value for money with excellent service and in a great location. 100% worth a visit.

A sweet little hotel in the middle of beautiful Marbach, Switzerland.
The hotel is great. The rooms are clean and the staff is fantastic. The restaurant downstairs is highly recommended - try something seasonal! There is a cable car right across the street that takes you up the Marbach Egg. A great place to para-glide. Hotel Sporting is the perfect place to stay.

Best in the Area - great choice for families
This small Hotel is run by the family Duss - Would we go again - absolutely, let me tell you why;
We have been many times in the Hotel Sporting in Marbach (Lucerne) for our Ski holidays. The small Hotel is really right at the Cable Car Station of the (small) ski resort Marbach, so no need to carry your equipment around. One of the reasons we choose this hotel - difficult, handle kids and tons of equipment :)
Can't Say much about the Rooms, except one, always got the same room, an apartment room with four beds and a small kitchen. Great to cook your lunch or sometimes dinner, saves a great money! Breakfast is included in the room price of SFr 210-230 per night (Sporting has two apartments available - prices are for 2 kids and 2 adults).
Quick word to the Restaurant; Rene (the chef) does properly the best "Cordon Bleu" in the world, simply because the good meat and the use of the local cheese. Try it! Breakfast is served as small buffet with a nice selection of local dishes.

Hotel und Restaurant perfekt !
Sehr freundliches und bestens geschultes Personal. Preis/Leistung Hotel und Restaurant ist hervorragend. Unser Abendessen war sehr fein und auch das Frühstück war reichhaltig. Zum Wandern und Biken ist die Ausgangslage super - gleich bei der Marbacheggbahn mit Bikepark!
