We fell in love with this little family-run, multi-generational hotel. It's right above the train station in Grindelwald (not the terminal station, but the second and last station on the Grindelwald line). It takes about 5 minutes to walk up from the station. At first we were a bit tentative at check-in because the owner/host was not very friendly. But over time she warmed up to us. The breakfast was wonderful and the views spectacular! We really enjoyed the little back yard area where we could lounge around and take in the 280 degree views of the mountains and valley below. Convenient to shopping, dinning and the ski areas. We would stay again!

We stayed at Hotel Caprice in Grindelwald for five nights in July. The hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from Grindelwald train station, but it is situated at the top of a steep hill. Unlike some nearby hotels, it does not offer a shuttle service. Carrying heavy luggage uphill was very inconvenient.
The hotel does not have air conditioning, and the room became extremely uncomfortable during the summer. When we opened the windows for ventilation, flies and cockroaches entered the room, making it difficult to sleep.
The room was also quite small for our family of four. We had one king-size bed and one bunk bed, yet the rate was approximately USD 800 per night. In our opinion, the room and overall experience did not justify the high price.
The television was mounted on the wall but had no signal, so we were unable to watch the news. We also found the staff unwelcoming, and it was surprisingly difficult to obtain even one additional key card for our family members.
Overall, the hotel has a convenient location, but the lack of air conditioning, shuttle service, room comfort, working television, and friendly service made our stay disappointing. At this price level, I would recommend considering other nearby hotels that may offer better comfort, service, and value.

Very quaint mountain village hotel where staff were extremely friendly and great selection at breakfast which exceeded expectations.

Wonderful staff, great breakfast options, amazing views. Room was very comfortable and seems rather new. Bathroom was very modern with all amenities. Hotel has a jacuzzi and sauna. Met Bailey, their 4 legged ambassador who is very friendly. A short walk up the hill from the train station, could not have been more convenient and you don’t hear or see the trains. I will be back!!

Pros: The view of Eiger is breathtaking.
Pros: The breakfast is awesome.
Pros: The room is kept spotless.
Pros: It's super close to the train station.
Cons: The room is very small.
Cons: No AC.
Cons: The water pressure is not good.
Cons: The advertised whirlpool isn't operational.
Cons: Aside from breakfast, no food options.
