Charming hotel near the forest with a great wellness offer
Very nice traditional hotel with a beautiful wellness area (incl. large indoor pool and large sunbathing lawn) ... we have been regular guests for many years

The Most Unfriendly Welcome
We have been travelling Switzerland for the last two weeks and generally had super service. The same however, can not be said for Hotel Adula in Flims Waldhaus.
We checked in around 4pm and we were only guests being attended so they were certainly not rushed, however the young lady who was on Reception was the most unfriendly, most unprofessional receptionist we have had anywhere. No smile, no "welcome". When she eventually found us in her system and we filled in her tablet with all our personal detiails, she mumbled instructions on how to get to our room. We ended up in a dimly lit area that certainly was not where we were supposed to be. We went back to reception and she told us we had pressed the wrong button on the lift. Two buttons to -1 but on different sides. My husband and I both found her extremely rude. The second time we went to the lift, there was another guest in the lift and she said she had just experienced the same treatment.
Whilst at reception another family arrived and they were checked in by a lovely man named Kevin. I overheard Kevin telling the guests about a tourist card allowing them discounts. My husband went back to ask about it, Kevin then printed them out for my husband and myself, something that had been missed when we checked in. I believe the lady we had, was called Marlene - she was German. She was definitely in the wrong job as she clearly did not enjoy dealing with people which is such a shame as its the first impression you get when arriving at the hotel.
Having said that, our room was as we booked, was nice and spacious with lovely balcony and view.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. A lovely Spanish waitress took our reservation and she was extremely friendly, however the service in the restaurant was very poor. They were busy, but after waiting 20 minutes, nobody had been to ask us if we wanted drinks and we had to ask. Very slow service, poor soggy pizza - the main waiter never came back to ask us if everything was OK and indeed did not even come over at the end of the evening when I´d had to ask for the bill twice. We had to wait another 20 minutes just to get the bill. Extremely poor.
The next morning however at breakfast, all the staff were extremely helpful, in fact they couldnt do enough for us and the breakfast was fabulous.
All in all, a very disappointing stay. It´s a shame that the lady on Reception did not have the same attitude as the lovely Spanish garden restaurant waitress of any of the breakfast staff.

Charm, comfort, and exceptional hospitality
We were won over by the typically Grisons charm of this hotel. The decor is particularly well-thought-out, with numerous bookcases filled with books made available to guests. They are also found along the windows, which brings a warm ambiance and invites reading.
The welcome was very warm upon our arrival, and we greatly appreciated the excellent advice received to prepare for our hikes. Spacious and comfortable, our room had a large terrace with a view of the garden. As it was very hot during our stay, we took advantage of the lounge chairs set up in the shade in the garden at the end of each day... a true moment of relaxation.
The breakfast was excellent, hearty, and varied, with a nice selection of regional products. The dinners were just as delicious, served in an elegant dining room with a friendly atmosphere, where we felt almost at home.
Finally, a big thank you to the whole team, always smiling, attentive, and very helpful. An address that we recommend without hesitation and where we will return with great pleasure.

Lovely spot for an overnight team building
The Hotel Adula was a perfect choice for an overnight team building event. The hotel is modern while exuding old world charm and many rooms overlook the surrounding glorious mountains. It is also a quick 15-20 minutes walk away from the beautiful Caumasee.
The hotel also offers meeting rooms which we used for a couple of hours and both the gym and the spa area were huge hits. The staff was phenomenal throughout and they even gave us recommendations for a wonderful dinner on our arrival night. Would love a return private visit with more time to explore the area.

Disappointing
Positive:
Pretty smaller park for resting, quiet and cool under the trees
Nice room visually.
Negative:
The room becomes unbearably warm.
The terrace in the room is very large, but extremely poorly furnished/two chairs and a small table, not nice, it would be nice to add a little charm.
The bathroom is very small with a very small shower cubicle.
Water in the room is only provided upon arrival....
The staff hardly speaks German (with a few exceptions). You are addressed in English and must respond in English or Italian due to the employees' lack of German knowledge....well, it's unappealing, but one can manage as a multilingual Swiss.
The food is absolutely nothing special, and the wines are simply overpriced (compared to many restaurants in Flims where they are better priced).
Reception: no guest card received at check-in, no indication that one should definitely buy mountain railway tickets at the hotel.
Service in the park: non-existent.
Breakfast: it is not replenished at times (the employee pointed out to us in Italian that we could make our own Birchermüesli - well, I already know that). Quality is rather mediocre.
Overall disappointing with a room price of more than CHF 300 per night.
