It's a bit different!
If using a taxi you should be aware that there's a flat rate charge of just CHF10 within the centre (the driver we used on our return tried to charge us CHF17.50 until we pointed this out, having previously confirmed this on booking), but as we try to economise where we can [and having a SwissPass] we thought we'd hop on a bus...
Not having a proper map this was a bit daunting at first, but it stood us in good stead for the rest of our stay. The bus you need is #3 to stop “Weri”, from where you head up into the old town just above the schloss (it’s an initial wiggle in the direction of Hotel Schloss but you’re essentially aiming for the street (Kirchgasse) that is perpendicular to the main road where you got off, and Gästehaus St Ursula is at the top on the l.h.s.).
What about the accommodation itself? Well, ours was undoubtedly one of the nicer rooms (221) overlooking the very attractive garden and with glorious views in two directions, looking both north to the schloss and westwards down the valley. Couldn't be nicer.
Our initial impression of the room was that it was rather austere in appearance with a dimly-lit (if well laid out) bathroom, but it was all very serviceable with lots of cupboard space and a table and two chairs. One very comfy armchair was provided, although given the space available a second one and a coffee table would be even better. Lift access available to the second floor.
The continental breakfast was fairly basic as one might expect but adequate for the purpose. Handy kitchenette with fridge off the landing available for anyone who is self-catering, plus a washing machine elsewhere. I much appreciated the manager's help with our luggage, and housekeeping generally under Ulf's direction was faultless.
Is this for you? All in all we felt it offered good value [for Switzerland] at £140 per night, and an attractive peaceful location if you don’t want to be right in the middle of town, with all the evening noise and bustle that comes with cafe culture. It's probably not ideal if you’re only looking to stay one night, but we were here for four and it grew on us over that time.
Incidentally I understand that the business is changing slightly and, although continuing as a guesthouse, it is to become a training centre for newcomers to the hospitality sector - so expect staffing to be more visible!
