Insider tip in Val Bever

The single rooms have not yet been renovated, but it did not bother me further. However, the shared bathroom and toilets are top-notch. All the staff in service embody the typical South Tyrolean hospitality. The food is simply excellent. I also enjoyed relaxing in the garden and under the large trees.

restaurant reservation attempt

We have tried to call for 3 hours for more than 20 attempts, no one answers saying that they are temporarily unable to do so. Finally at 2200 (first phone call at 17.40!) someone answers and to our request to reserve a table for 6 people plus a baby of 11 months tells us that azesss is not possible but to come anyway. I repeat that we reserved the carriage with horses to go up to the restaurant but we would like to be sure that we can eat especially for the baby. Dry answer; then don't come because I'm fully booked. I thanked him for his kindness and consistency. Unfortunately these are fat days for these hosts but there will also be quieter periods but we leave the ibex to go and graze in their garden, certainly we and those who ask us for advice will send them elsewhere.

Fantastic and charming place.

Absolutely charming place with first rate staff and food. The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is shared but totally private with closed doors for the toilet and separate shower. The restaurant downstairs serves very good fare (some of the best I had in Switzerland). The hostel is about a hundred paces from the Spinas train station, which you can catch from St. Moritz. It’s the best deal in Switzerland. Highly recommended.

Spinas Gathaus is a real charmer. It's steps away from the train depot, and surrounded by majestic hills. The staff is excellent as are the meals at the hotel restaurant. Don't let the "hostel" label turn you off. It's more like a top flight bed and breakfast. Highly recommended.
