More than we could’ve asked for

More than we could’ve asked for, as students on a budget. Situated a short distance from the station and shop, and about 30 minute-walk from the tourist station. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, especially after our train there was delayed and the train home was cancelled. They were chatty and gave us some local knowledge of hikes in the area. The husky hike is a must do if you want to be covered in kisses from a bunch of puppies! Fredrick and Ana are amazing guides and made the trip magical. The sauna is included and creates a nice atmosphere. We booked the two-person room and it was simple but everything you would need. If you’re a light sleeper, the doors don’t hide much noise, but aside from that, it was amazing and we couldn’t recommend it more. Thank you for an amazing life experience and we will definitely be back some day!

Great Dogsled Ride

We took a dogsled ride via Abisko.net (arranged for us by Lights Over Lapland) and we had a blast.
The ride was fun—comfortable even though there wasn’t much snow, some fast stretches but never alarming, and through beautiful country.
Our musher, Daniel, was a fascinating guy and we learned a great deal from him. The dogs were so much fun—excited, friendly, and they obviously enjoyed pulling the sled. We even were able to pet husky puppies—ultimate cuteness. You can tell that the dogs’ well being is the top priority.
I strongly recommend this experience and operator.

Not recommended!

With the dog legging I was ripped off, I had booked a winter day tour, it was cancelled because apparently it could no longer be done on the booked date, then it could be done on another date and then I would get 200sek back per person because we had to sit on the sled and no longer drive ourselves. They didn't want to give this amount back on location in 1x... in addition, the stuff you could use as a bonus at the hotel is almost all broken or heavily outdated!
So all in all was and my booked date cancelled without extra fee or discount on a new date, and we were no longer allowed to drive ourselves and we got no refund... very antisocial!
So don't book!
The hotel itself is very outdated, the rooms are very small, there is not even a wardrobe.. shower must be in another building.
The woman at the reception I found not exactly friendly, for check-in we had to wait 15min.
I would never go back to this hotel, only plus was that other guests were nice, and the puppies looked sweet!

Abisko. A winter dream

I have been to this Hostel twice and I am a big fan. You just get to know people and feel right at home. The price-performance ratio is good and the location of the hostel as well. There is a sauna and a very well equipped kitchen. It is clean and the owners are very friendly.

Visited the place and turned away. Staggering price compared to the place.

Good sides: location is good, and that's about it. A bit hippie-style hostel with a communal atmosphere. Unclean expression, although the cleaning is said to be done daily. Unclean toilets, some out of paper. Showers in the different building. You have to pay a separate fee for sheets if you want them, 10 euros per person! Pillows looked like they were the cheapest ones found from Ikea 10 years ago. You could smell the communal kitchen stinking of bio-waste when walking up the stairwell. Freight train runs right by the building. The door of the room cannot be locked from the outside, i.e. things cannot be left in the room, also the doors did not block any sound, so the door was as useful as a curtain would have been. A good 70 euros for two people room which is as big as a jail cell, that included a bunk bed and a table with a chair. Totally overpriced, avoid this place.
