Nice outside but not inside

Left the hotel after a few hours when there was a drunk, naked man in the hallway. There was no service on the boat and it felt not especially OK to stay there with children. Had to check in at another hotel instead. Submitted a complaint but received no reply.

Historical downturn of a great institution.

Apparently this hotel chain has go into administration and it shows, no staff, no housekeeping, no drink or food available, breakfast consisted of a coffee from a flask.
Maybe this once great sailing ship ruled the waves, but now looks fallon, uncared for and in great need to re establish its past history!!!

Condoms in bed - they refused to clean or give price reductions

The room was terribly untidy, including a condom in one bed. We contacted the reception directly that we wanted the room cleaned, but this did not happen throughout our stay. Have tried to claim a price reduction which we are legally entitled to, but they stop answering the emails if you demand it, and only refer to their emails if you call reception. This should not be an acceptable standard of either condition or treatment.

Unfortunate experience

We have just returned home from a stay and have had a really exciting experience at the hotel.
The room we came to was only superficially cleaned, there was a used copper piece, plastic on the floor, dust in several of the corners and a window that could not be closed completely.
When we were in the bath we had to turn off the water because the drain had stopped.
The upper bunk in both rooms was in such poor condition that the slightest movement caused great noise.
Also, there was so much sound between the rooms that we could follow the neighbors' conversations, etc.
In the hallways lay garbage and bed linen that were not removed in the days we were there. The shared toilets were dirty.
The furniture in the common areas was worn and in several places the areas seemed more like storage. Overall, the hotel seemed closed off.
The breakfast (which is included for free) was also a boring experience. Dry bread, egg replacement, etc.
After the first night we wrote to the hotel's customer service but we still haven't heard from them, but have received an email asking us to rate our stay!?!
But on the positive side we can mention;
Very good location in the city's many activities and clean linen...

Christmas dinner 13/12 - Barken Viking served a fiasco

”Share your experience”.. well, I wish I could write that it was a fantastic Christmas dinner we were treated to that Lucia evening. That we were met with an incredible dining experience, courteous staff and a cozy atmosphere now before Christmas - but no no - instead we were met with a cancellation at short notice. No explanation whatsoever. The booking company was not reachable and the staff at the front desk was both rude and ignorant. Barken Viking has shown zero empathy and handled this reprehensibly badly. It was a fiasco! We do NOT recommend Barken Viking as their bookings can obviously not be trusted. If you have booked hotel rooms, trains and babysitting like us, it's really risky business - beware of being disappointed! Choose another place!
