Owner goes the extra Mile
I would like to thank Ian at Baldinnie Cottages for his kind hospitality and for going the extra mile to accommodate us, and for adding the extra touches to make our stay so wonderful. Thank you we loved our night in Cottage No 1 and we will be back when in the area!

A perfect Weekend Away
We, (my wife and I) visited Baldinnie Cottages over the weekend of 11 to 13 September 2020. After having had to postpone our visit a number of times due to the COVID-19 lock-down, we were thrilled to eventually spend a relaxing weekend away in the middle of nowhere!
Our expectations were certainly exceeded on all fronts!
The directions given were concise but accurate. We arrived to a warm welcome by our hostess Gwen. We were shown our room, which we loved from the start. It was tastefully furnished in antiques, spotlessly clean and tidy. There was ample space for our clothes in the closet and in the kitchen for our provisions.
Personal touches which impressed us immensely were the flowers on the dining table, cold water in the carafes on the bedside tables, battery lanterns in case of a power failure or load shedding and the tasteful paintings, pictures and ornaments that made our accommodation feel like home.
Tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper were supplied. A litre of fresh farm milk welcomed us upon opening the fridge door. There were even fire-lighters and matches for the braai. One literally only needs to bring your food along, all other utensils are in the small but well-appointed kitchen. The crockery, cutlery, serving bowls and kitchen utensils were more than adequate for our needs.
(I was impressed that all the knives were really sharp, and the cork-screw came in very handy.)
The bed was comfortable, with an electric under-blanket, and ample pillows. The duvet and blanket supplied were more than we needed for the nippy cool nights we experienced. We really did have 2 nights of restful sleep.
The en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet was spacious, tastefully decorated and once again spotlessly clean. There was ample hot water available and the towels that were supplied were more than adequate.
The unit we stayed in was really private and secure. There were other people in the adjacent units, but we never saw them. Everyone just did their own thing and relaxed, without being a nuisance at all.
The braai area under the trees was very welcoming, with 4 individual braais, benches and tables. The firewood that was supplied was abundant and really dry, which made starting a fire that much easier. A strategically placed flood light afforded ample lighting to an area which otherwise would be pitch dark at night. Thoughtful touches were the solar powered LED jam-jar lights that were suspended in the trees, adding a romantic touch.
We enjoyed the serenity of the surroundings. This is truly a place to relax and unwind. The rustle of the wind through the trees, the occasional moo of a cow or the call of a Hededa is all we heard all weekend. The scenery of the rolling hills, trees and pretty flowers in the garden made this venue our go-to place in the future.
Our hosts Gwen and Ian were super. They were hospitable, always friendly and ready to lend a hand, or just to have a casual chat. They really made us feel at home.
Baldinnie Cottages is truly a gem set in beautiful surroundings, just what one needs for that quiet, relaxing break-away far away from the maddening crowds!
