Lovely clean cabana
Sanju's "Happy" cabana is a lovely place to unwind and relax. Very close to Uppuveli Beach, far less crowded than Nilaveli. Cabana was clean and seemed freshly built. The bathroom was clean and towels were provided. Sanju, the owner, was very attentive and willing to help with some tips. I am happy to recommend this place :)

I would never recommended this place or would stay there one day longer
The area is not really pretty, I would go to Alles Garden, especially for solo travellers. Much more crowded there. All good bars, restaurants, shops, are in this area. Beach is nicer and cleaner as well.
You have to pay in advance, and +10% tax. Really weird.
Be careful what you book, the rooms have two completely different types of classes. Double bed room without bathroom, so for 1-2 persons. Room with double and single bed with bathroom, so for 2-3 persons. The rooms without bathroom: the shared bathroom is outside and really basic, so you have to leave the building and has to go behind the building.
The manager seems quite nice at the beginning, but after a while he was really annoying, he was always starring and said he had to say me that he really liked me. After I made completely clear, that this doesn't matter for me because I don't have the same feelings and I'm not single, what he already knew by the way, I went to bed. Then he wrote me in the night that we should spend the night together and that he wants to come in my bed because his room is so hot and nobody will ever know. I said no again, really clear and rush. But he didn't stop, until I said that I will move out tomorrow and that I want my money back for the last night.
That I got my money back was really annoying and well because he had bo money and the owner was not there. At the end I got the money for the last night without tax back . I had leave the place, also without money, that didn't matter, but I wanted to let the owner know what he did and why I wanted to leave. Because especially for younger solo female travellers that would not be that easy, I guess. That's also the reason for this review. Don't go to his place.

Lovely place to stay!
We had a fabulous stay here! Good location from Uppuveli Beach and the tourist restaurants. The room was very clean and the bathroom was modern. Sanju was very helpful throughout our stay would recommend.

Worst experience I’ve ever had
I am still shocked and shaken from how disgusting costumer service is here. I’ve been to over 100 hotels, and never have I had this happen to me.
I left dinner early as I started getting sick and needed my medication and a bed ASAP. Once I got to my room, I realised my friend had the key. I asked the manager if they had a spare key, he said no. I said I was shocked they didn’t have a spare key. So the manager calls the boss, passes me the phone to the boss, and the boss starts yelling at me and insulting me. (I haven’t even said anything yet at this point), I tell him to calm down, I’m just very sick and need my medication right now. He told me he had a spare key but was 10kms away so he couldn’t get it for me.
He then arrived to the hotel to continue to yell and insult me and put his hand in my face, while I was lying in a chair, obviously sick, shaking from my muscle spasms and crying from the verbal abuse I was getting. I told him that it was disgusting how anybody could have such low respect for anyone and could treat people like this, esp a costumer. The fact people like that exist saddens me. And the fact someone like that is allowed to run a hottel does more. I was a poor sick costumer and that’s how I got treated. Once my mate came over with the key the owner said “you got the key, Happy now?” To which I replied “not after this costumer service no” he then laughed at me and flicked his hand in the air.
So it is terrible costumer service, for a high price for a terrible room. Room is small and expensive. It costs extra to use kitchen, aircon or fan. Also if you want to download anything with the wifi you have to pay wifi. Doesn’t come with towels, soap, blankets or anything. Worst place I’ve ever been to.
