The rooms are spotless, cool, and set in a lush garden where time slows down. It’s one of those places where you keep thinking, “Just one more day.”
What truly makes Drift special is Kannan.
He makes every guest feel like a friend. Whether it’s a safari—where he’s amazing at spotting wildlife—or surf coaching, everything is done with passion, patience, and a lot of fun.
The surf lessons are professional and adapted to your level, whether you’re a complete beginner or already have experience, so you always feel progress while enjoying every moment.
Drift isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a way to experience the real spirit of Arugam Bay.
If you want more than just accommodation, book Drift. Just be ready to stay longer than planned.

Drift

Wow!! Kannan was the most amazing host not only the best tour guide and Chef he is also very honest and fun. Kannan would take me on adventures and make sure I had an amazing time in arugam bay. I was a very experienced surfer and he found waves to accommodate me. Also one of the best surf instructors for a beginner. I turned 30 on my trip and Kannan treated me like family by making me a home made fire bbq and it was by far one of the most special experiences I shared in Sri Lanka. Kannan is a beautiful person very kind honest and fun. Drift rooms was very clean and very beautiful with great aircon good wifi and amazing gardens when we even had monkeys come visit. Drift is in the best location, close to main point for surfers and close to the all the restaurants and cafes. Kannan would even advice you best places to eat for whatever you’re looking for whether it’s Sri Lankan food, western food, or cheapest food. I’ll be back every time this was the best place I stayed in arugam bay and even Sri Lanka.

The place to be!

Very nice house, lots of greenery, very good location (Maint Point Surf, restaurants), very clean, large rooms, bedding at the top, large bathrooms...
And an exceptional welcome from our host Kannan who was amazingly kind and available.
He briefed us on the first day of surfing (reef present at this time) and accompanied us on some great getaways.

Best place to stay!

Really recommend here! We stayed in a lovely room with all the right things we needed, and the host Kannan is so friendly, super accommodating and a brilliant host all round. This is the perfect place to stay if you visit Abay! Will definitely be coming back!

Best experience ever!

Me and my daughter (13y) stayed here for 6 nights. The rooms were the cleanest of our trip and 2 min walk from the surfspot babypoint. Kannan is the best surfteacher I met, his instructions were spot on, so we really got to improve our surfskills quick. Besides that he took us to a Tuktuk safari were we saw crocodiles, Peacocks, elephants, Buffalo’s, wild dogs, birds and wild rabbits. Kannan is a funny guy trustworthy and nice to hang out with. We absolutely loved this place and didn’t want to leave. ( Ps we are from the netherlands but i cannot change the country without loosing the review..)
