A delightful stay.

We were warmly welcomed by the family and a tray of tea was delivered to the table outside our room which was very acceptable. The room was clean and spacious and had a refrigerator. Air conditioning was efficient. We were near to the beach but it wasn’t particularly appealing and there appeared to be a fair amount of rubbish around.
We were able to leave our luggage whilst investigating the area and whilst waiting for a car to collect us we were invited into the family’s home, which was very much appreciated and it was lovely talking to everyone. Having waited so long for transport, our host agreed to take us to iris’s a in his car.

Lovely place to stay in

We stayed for two nights. The room was very clean and had spacious bathroom with hot water under the shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a little bit far from the town, in a quite area but still near the beach. We recommend a lot ❤️thank you!

Recommend

I stayed at Watergate Resort for 2 nights, and I am extremely satisfied with the experience. They served a delicious, substantial breakfast, and if you wish, the owners can prepare a super delicious Sri Lankan dinner. I highly recommend the place; the quality and price do correspond.

Comfortable and clean!

Great value for a really decent place to stay. Good location just out of the centre.
The resort is quiet with just 3 rooms which were all clean and very well maintained.
Beds are comfy and we were looked after so well with tea and smiles.
Will stay here again 100%.

Best place to stay in Weligama!

The Watergate Resort felt like home to us. My husband and I stayed there for one month because we loved it so much! The owner Vasu has a wonderful, cute young daughter who always made us laugh. His sisters daughter is there too and both together were very entertaining. They serve very good Sri Lankan breakfast that his kindhearted mother makes, but they also serve normal breakfast if you don’t like spice! The rooms are perfect size with a very nice bathroom. It’s about a two minute walk from the water but still far enough back that it’s quite at night. Also there is a privacy wall so you’re comfortable relaxing in the hammock or sitting outside. I highly recommend this place. We loved it!!
