Can't beat the location

Great location and cheap rooms with a waterfront view. If you just want a basic room, quiet and able to walk straight out to beach or paddle out at Rams break this is great!
Cheap scooter and board rentals also

Stinking, filthy dirty place

Two of us booked this as it looked like somewhere we could learn to surf. When we arrived, we were made to pay in full for three nights, in cash. No cards taken.
We were then shown to a crummy room overlooking the noisy road. When we asked if there was another one, we got taken to a dark, dirty room stinking of damp. The sheets, mosquito nets and (one) towel were filthy. There was a cockroach in the bathroom, along with what looked like a fair amount of blood on the wall. The toilet was disgusting. We asked them to change the sheets, and when they took them off, it revealed black mouldy mattresses. We asked to speak to the owner, and were told to wait, but we got fed up sitting in such a dirty place, so we left and stayed somewhere else. I eventually got a message from the manager/owner, telling me that I must have gone and found somewhere cheaper, and that I was telling lies about his place. I have the pictures.
We could not get any of our money back. It's not expensive, but just because it's cheap that is no excuse for not keeping it clean. I would not eat there if my life depended on it. I have honestly never seen anything so disgusting.
As for the promise of surf lessons, there was no-one and nothing to indicate any kind of lessons available on site, just leaflets which you can find in any place in this area, directing you to local surf schools. I cannot stress how much this place should be avoided if you value your health.

Awful place! Very rude owners and low conditions.

This place took the money eventhough they didn't stand in the standatds they were declared of. Very poor conditions! And the owners are very rude. Becarful! Dont trust this place. What you see in the pictures istotaly not what you will find there.

Disgusting rooms extremely rude owner

Worst place I've ever stayed. Horrible place, don’t go near!!!!!!! No water at all came out of the showers, The fan barely works and the electricity outlets don’t work either. We told the manager and they yelled at us and said we couldn’t get our money back for any of the nights. Rooms are dirty and gross and can not communicate with the managers without them yelling at us and slamming the doors in our faces. Extremely rude. Definitely do not recommend -we found easy nicer placed for the half the price right next door.

Disgusting place with awful attendant - don't be fooled by the score here

So we found this place ourselves while looking for somewhere to stay, and although we didn't like the look of the room we decided to stay just for the night since we were so tired. After putting our bags we went down to have a couple of drinks - telling this just to give the information that you need to pay extra money fo any drink you bring there even though their bar serves only beer. Anyway, we went up t the room, and the water was cut out after using it for like two minutes and we had to ask them to run water. Our sheets were all dirty and sandy so we had to ask for clean sheets as well. There were no towels and no soap in the room. Because the place is near the road we couldn't sleep properly due to the noise. The wi-fi was slow as s*** we didnt even use it. And the best part - we couldn't find the keys while checking out, and the guy at the reception went up the room and came back like in 30 secs saying that he couldn't find the key and tried to charge us 500 rupees (which i'm sure there is no way getting another one would cost them). Then my friend went up the room and found the keys on one of the beds. The guy was very rude during the whole process and said that he won't give our change (from the bill for the drinks) until we find the keys (wtf). This was the worst accommodation experience we had in Sri Lanka.
