Great home base for exploring the wonderful nature

Unfortunately, we only spent one night in the beautiful accommodation. The house is located in the middle of nature a little above the centre, it is easy to walk there. We have been warmly welcomed with cake and had a spacious, clean room with balcony. We would have liked to stay longer, thank you very much.

Mama cottage ella- Great homestay

Mama(O G Padma Desilva) is the host of the place,a lovely Srilankan woman in her 70s.She has 3 rooms with attached bathrooms and balcony.Everyday she prepared delicious SriLankan home made breakfast for us.She is so caring and attended to all our requests and needs.The cottage is just 10 minutes walk from Ella railway station and very close to Nine Arches bridge.

Excellent and charming place to stay

I stayed at Mama Cottage in Ella for several days. The place is very clean, quiet and charming, and the garden very pleasant. The owner lady, Mama, is very warm, nice and helpful. She made delicious breakfast, helped with the laundry, and made sure I was comfortable in the room.
I strongly recommend to stay at Mama Cottage.

Great host

Stayed for one night, but would have liked to stay for longer. It's a great place, set in a lovely garden and Pathma is a wonderful host, really friendly offering tea and snacks and making a great breakfast. Will stay again next time I am in Ella.

Clean and nice room + caring host!

We stayed for two nights at "mama cottage". As there are a lot of places to stay at Ella we looked around for a bit at first. Because of this there is a lot of room for negotiations. We chose for "mama cottage" because of the clean rooms and the nice host. The room, we had the balcony room, was decently sized and had a relatively new bathroom with hot water. Furthermore wifi was available and we didn't have any problems with connecting to it (which we read in reviews before). "Mama", or Pathma which is her real name, is a very lovely woman who cares about her guests. We were welcomed with tea and she prepared lunch for us, at no costs. Pathma doesn't speak English very well, but she tries really hard and likes to talk. The breakfast was very nice too, as it was traditional Sri Lankan with (a lot of) fresh fruit. To conclude, we would definitely recommend "mama cottage" as a place to stay in Ella!
