Wornderful Experience

We spent two nights here on vacation and I must say that everything was excellence .Room Everything is great with a lagoon view .Excellence place to relax. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast was very delicious .I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Off the beaten Path, Clean and good food

Navaal is on the forgotten Peninsula of Batticaloa which was ravaged by the Tsunami in 2009. this charming 10 room hotel has large clean rooms with Ac and the chef cooks well. value for money their is no better place in Batticaloa. you near upscale option is Pasakuda bay but you will pay three times the price.

Place was good and all things acceptable. Stay was plasant with very oblidging staff.
However, the location is terrible. Very difficult to find and is road, if you can call it a road, is horrible.
Full of flooded potholes in complete darkness at night.

RIP OFF

I was compelled to select this hotel as the road way to the hotel i had booked was under water due to the inclement weather. The appearance was far better than most of the hotels i checked out which were accessible.
The lunch which I ordered was a simple Sri Lankan Rice and curry with crabs was very expensive and the manager was adamant on the high price and was not willing to compromise. I could have paid a few more hundred rupees and had a fantastic buffet spread at Taprobane Restaurant - Cinnamon Grand, with crabs, prawns smoked salmon and lamb etc etc
The toilet seat cover couldn't be placed down (room 11), the room door couldn't be closed it had to be shut hard, the hotel needs a lot of maintenance. Staff were not in uniform.
We stayed there for less than 11 hours, our beds were unused and again the manager was not willing to compromise in charging half rate. He seized the opportunity being aware that I was desperate and depended solely on the hotel for the lunch for 16 persons and accommodation for 2. This is not a trait for those in the hospitality trade, business is a win win situation and not to be ripped off. Certainly NOT VALUE for money. We were the only guests in the hotel and offers could have been thrown in, given the highly priced room rates and meals.
The service was good and nothing to complain about.

Poor maintenance & service

We booked 6 rooms & were there end October. Some stretches of access road was very bad. When we arrived there was only one person to show the rooms & carry bags. As settling in was taking a long time we carried our own luggage- mind you all of us 60+ senior citizens. The toilet door could not be locked as the mechanism was corroded. Taps, Cistern worked with protest as they were gunked up by hard water buildup. They charge high end prices for the meals but dole out basic meal with quantity adequate for a child. AVOID THIS PLACE!
