Breakfast was excellent, nice clean room with blackout blinds,
Lots of restaurants and shops and an excellent bus straight to the city centre.

Hygiene and staff shortages

The hostel can accommodate up to 700 people. Few staff. The common areas are dirty, two days to complain before a semblance of cleaning is done in the guest kitchen totally unhealthy as shown in the photos (already the same problem in December 2024).
Very dirty stairs in the floors. 3 accessible toilets downstairs including a mouthful. Insufficient for the number of people accommodated.
3 elevators including one broken down for 22 floors and 700 people so it is better to be patient. Outlying but well served by transport.
The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. However, check the smoke detector. Mine was clogged with labels so ineffective in case of fire.
Besides, if you are with a group and the toilet is clogged, the first answer is that they will take care of it and 24 hours later if you bitch the manager at the reception suggests using the toilet in the other rooms (nice in the middle of the night). You have to grumble and talk hygiene department to get things done and if there was a hygiene check , they would probably close.
Little anecdote, our bus driver to pay for one more day (120€) and woke up at 11am to leave his room. He had to go down to the reception to settle the dispute instead of resting. The 120 euros hurts!

Absolute lack of customer service – Lost my money due to their unresponsiveness!

I had a reservation at a&o Prague. According to their own Terms and Conditions (AGB), guests are contractually allowed to postpone or reschedule their stay prior to the arrival date by paying a fee.A day before my scheduled check-in, I spent hours trying to reach the hotel by phone, but no one answered. I also contacted Booking.com customer support, and they told me to reach out directly to the Prague location. However, the hotel was completely unreachable, making it impossible for me to utilize my legal right to reschedule. As a result, I could not travel and completely lost my money.This is highly unprofessional and a clear breach of their own service agreement. I demand that the management contact me immediately to process a full refund. Avoid this place if you value reliable customer service!

city trip in Prague

A&O is a factory with a lot of work points , reception rather lazy than tired , lifes were a disaster waiting times of 15 min were the standard , at breakfast it was the law of the fittest the kitchen could not serve the masses on time , the communal toilets were too limited and dirty . our room was on the 21st floor and therefore there was no hot shower water but it was clean . I was back at camp mer the youth movement, it's cheap okay but therefore not good

location is quite far out of prague center, about 30-45 minutes on Metro and 45-60 by tram.
Check in was slow and staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing. I did try the self check in machine but they didn't work.
In the morning using the lift was a disaster, sometimes talking up to 15 minutes to get from room to reception.
The place was so busy that when u was leaving I couldn't get out the door! There was a large group who decided to block the door and nobody could get past.
I bought late check out. First time I tried to get back into the room the key didn't work. Back down 18 floors on the slowest lift in the world. I went back later just before I was due to checkout and the key didn't work. I stood in a queue, 5 members of staff ignored me.. they walked past, chatted to each other and eventually I had to interrupt. They key eventually was reactivated and after the door journey back up... the key didn't work. AGAIN! I was told it was because it was last checkout time... yes, because the key didn't work! Another return trip on the slowest lift and finally it worked.
You could excuse things like this if the price reflects the service. Staff all seemed very young and not well trained or knowledgeable and room was not good value.
