Mixed feelings about this stay. On arrival I called the number and was guided through the instructions to get into the room.
Initially the room appeared to be clean and tidy, but clearly dated. The furniture and deco needs updated asap. The bed linen and the towels were clean and the toilet/shower room was spotless.
After a brief stop off to leave the luggage myself and my two sons left to explore York for few hours. When we returned there was a distinct smell of smoke/weed in the hallway and room. There was also a pungent smell of food. Once in the room we started to get settled I noticed the floor. It clearly hadn't been hoovered for a long time. There were crumbs around the beds, dust, small pieces of paper and worst of all a human toe/finger nail on the floor between the two beds. Had it not been so late I would have called the number again as it was really off putting. Not pleasant to think about what is under your feet when getting out the shower.
We had bought fresh fruit and milk etc from the nearby Aldi for breakfast. I placed this in the fridge ready for the morning. However when we woke everything was frozen solid, which meant I had to go out again and spend more money so the kids had breakfast. Everything had to be binned as the fruit just turned to mush when it defrosted.
3rd stay York in 6 months, and considering there are other options within stones throw away which are modern, tastefully decorated and clean throughout, I will not be staying here again.

Beds were comfortable, easy access to get in to guesthouse. Could do with a little modernisation.

It was quite basic and dated but it had everything we needed. The beds and the bathroom was clean. There was no one to let us in had to call a number for codes but it was no hassle got straight in. Liked the fact there was a small fridge in the room. We were out all day only really slept there. There was a little cafe just down the road for breakfast. Plenty of buses going into the centre.

Not too bad

Electronic room Door lock would not work, rang customer number, spoke to Asian who I could not understand, gave me wrong code. Eventually got in but could not get it to work all the time. After 3 calls to customer service she said someone would come. Still waiting 2 hours after arriving. Lock fixed, it was batteries not working. We got room 9. Place very clean but we booked a "superior " twin room , It was anything but, it was very average.. No couch only two old wooden chairs so nowhere to relax, and a small fridge,very basic. But it was a cheap places,so we got what we paid for.
