The Absolute Best Quality, Best Tasting Full English Breakfast Around Windsor
Breakfast Review
The Winning Post is the winning venue for breakfast! Hidden amongst the leafy properties of Winkfiled, the pub has an amazing old world feeling and is situated in a peaceful residential setting, surrounded by lush gardens and beautiful houses.
We chose to sit in the picturesque garden and were ushered to our table by our host, Nikki, who was relaxed, and professional and extremely good with our two dogs.
As we always do for our first visit to any breakfast venue we chose our standard order: two cappuccinos and two Full English breakfasts.
The coffee arrived piping hot and, compared to the literally hundreds of coffees we have tried in venues around our hometown, this was undoubtedly the one of the best coffees we’ve had with a breakfast for several years.
Our food arrived with a smile, also piping hot and everything on the plate a 10/10 for taste! The eggs exactly as ordered (whites solid and yolk runny), the tasty bacon perfectly and evenly cooked, and the hash brown, which I usually pass onto my partner, tasted homemade and fresh. Everything on the plate was top quality and tasted exactly as it should!
We’ll be back to try lunch and dinner too.
To the Pub: your competitors could learn a thing or two from you about quality, taste, service and price! They should all be booking to eat at your venue.
About us: For the past two years my partner and I head out every other Saturday or Sunday to find great places to have Sunday breakfast within up to about an hours drive of Windsor. We choose them based on their reviews, preferably 4.5 and higher and they need to be roughly within a hours drive of Windsor. We no longer rely as heavily on reviews as they nearly always disappoint. We have found some good venues, some great ones and some that are sometimes great.
This venue is the best.

Worst check in experience- which I did try and talk through with the manager on check out and although he was pleasant in his manner I did not feel heard. Because of the errors at check in I did not feel I would be supported had I flagged up all the issues. Housekeeping is poor.
The room was pretty and made you feel like you were in your own cottage with a door to the garden but reviews probably over rate this place because of the first impression. Flooring was amtico style with coir mat which did feel nicer than old grubby carpets of many hotels.
Cleanliness could have been better the soap containers were very grubby so you were making your hands dirtier to wash them! Housekeeping threw the replacement towels (we were cut down by one) on the bed. I had to change a bulb round. The double bed had not been connected correctly and divided which could have resulted in serious injury. The fan controls needed a new battery. Walls seem thin so you can hear other guests and the presentation as you walk in needs massive clean. Having had a drink in the bar general untidiness and loose dogs did not inspire me to eat there.
Parking was easy which is important to me and able to get very close to the room.
Hopefully other guests would not have the check in experience but I do feel this place is well over priced for the standard they are delivering

Fantastic boutique hotel
Lovely room with exceptional attention to detail and sumptuous decor. Delicious breakfast. Really good value for money.

I have a few times in some of their pubs and this is the best of all 3. Staff are excellent l arrived late beyond meal but they went out of there to get me something hot. Also helped with cutting my food as l have a fracture, morning breakfast yummy loved everything about the place. Bedrooms are quite roomy compared. Hope he was the manager and K who got me some meal. K helped with my bags to my room. 2 young man who’d been to SA lovely chat. Friendly staff but still doing their job. Would 100% recommend. Ample parking.

Thoroughly enjoyable visit
We enjoyed a wonderful two night stay at the Winning Post, which is a characterful inn with accommodation at the rear. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive and our room spacious yet cosy, well equipped and beautifully decorated. Our bed was huge and the pillows very plump and soft. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and the breakfast buffet set us up nicely for our exploration of the local area, including Cliveden (NT), Runnymede and Windsor Great Park. Have thoroughly recommended the Winning Post to family and friends!
