Great Stay at the Great Western

Had a room with sea view which had recently been refurbished, was spacious and up-to-date. Locatipn was good as well as bar. Michele assisted us with booking, as well as checking us in, her customer service was fantastic. Thanks E&T x

Wow Great hotel, Great accommodation, great staff

New refurbished room was very impressive, and at a great price Parking was a breeze, but must book in advance. Staff were very professional, with a friendly air of politeness and relax conversation as we were served, giving the bar and Restaurant a great Atmosphere.
The breakfast and indeed every meal we had at the hotel was excellent. Served hot, well presented and very tasty. The bar garden had stunning sea views. with sandy beach either side of the hotel. With only a short leisurely stroll into the town centre. which is a bonus being away from the Hussle and bussle of the town nightlife, but easy reach if you want to join in.
Every area used by guests was extremely clean and well managed. Tables cleared swiftly and efficiently. No waiting for somewhere to sit.
Based on my stay , If you in the area on a holiday, short break or even a business trip I highly recommend the Greats Western Hotel.

Great hotel, We have stayed here on/off 50 years , Amazing staff (working their for years eg Covid). Never had a single experience other than best service/ friendly staff/ professional etc

Wooden floors? Not a good idea.

Love this hotel, stayed plenty of times over the years. Staff are always lovely, restaurant is good and it’s had a make over…great! Actually not so great. The rooms have been redecorated and refurbished and look very modern and fresh, however, the designer obviously didn’t think it through.
Wooden floors in room and corridors?! I think not, it was like being part of Riverdance! You can hear every step taken in the corridors outside your room and the family above us were definitely having running races. Very noisy and annoying!
Will it stop us from returning? Probably not but next time we will book a room on the top floor!

Only stayed one night as we attended an event in Newquay. Reception staff Friendly and welcoming on check-in. The room was basic but OK for one night, very pleased we were given a sea view, that was a bonus. Didn’t dine at the hotel or use any facilities so I can’t comment on these. The hotel is very tired looking and dirty in the stairwells, corridors, lifts etc. would certainly benefit from some refurbishment and investment. Nice and central location so fine for a night or weekend.
