Campsite with a view

Visit at least 3 times a year at the campsite. There is always something happening in the pub and always busy. The atmosphere on the campsite is great, relaxed, friendly with great views. Rung to sort pitches out before we arrived and had the pleasure to deal with Jess. Keep up the good work Jess, you were a pleasure to deal with and do helpful.

Good food spoilt by cash-first attitude

We stayed here for two nights.
On the positive side the location was good, overlooking open fields on one side and the river Derwent on the other. The cooking was also good and tasty.
However:
Our room was described in our booking email as 'king sized'. It must have been a very small king as there was barely a metre between bed and walls and only one chair for a double room;
Our room was immediately above the bar and on the first night we were kept awake until 2300 by music and singing;
When we returned on the second afternoon our room had not been made up. Unmade bed, unwashed cups, no new toiletries. We were told that they 'only rent the rooms' and did not provide room service!
We ordered our supper at the bar and were told to pay immediately before we had even sat down and that we could not put supper on our room bill;
At breakfast we were immediately charged for breakfast as soon as we had finished.
The manager explained that some people had left before paying hence they made everyone pay immediately. It left a very sour taste that we were treated as suspected fraudsters.
Overall a star for location and one for cooking but nul points for accommodation.

Can’t wait to return! A friendly welcoming pub.

A cosy, tranquil setting with views of the farmers field and his cows.
A last minute trip and it was so worth it.
We arrived late for a bank holiday Sunday, we were greeted with the warmest welcome and the extremely helpful, kind staff managed to get us a pitch on their site for the van. There’s toilets and showers available with the code which was fab, and running drinking water.
We had some drinks in the pub in the evening, and it was a lovely vibe. We could have joined in the pub quiz but chose to sit outside looking over the fields.
We returned over the pub in the morning and had a breakfast. The staff again were so friendly and served us a fabulous brekkie, which we thought was fantastic value for money.
Overall, we will be back and have already passed the word on about this place. Thanks all!!

Warm and friendly welcome in this lovely traditional pub

Warm and friendly welcome. Bar area appealing with a great range of drinks and real ales. All areas clean and tastefully and traditionally decorated. Gorgeous views from the back of the pub.

Excellent

Fabulous Sunday lunch yesterday, accommodating both large and small appetites. Great range if choice alongside a good choice of deserts. Excellent value for money and we will be returning! Attentive service and willingness to go above and beyond. :)
