A bargain - especially for peak season in busy location
A bargain, especially for a peak season single room. Other reviewers have moaned the room was small but it wasn't that bad! And what you get for £103 is nothing short of amazing!

Extremely Disappointing Stay
The Hotel looks fine from the outside; the bar and restaurant are reasonably good and offer a good selection of drinks and food. The hotel accommodation (rooms) itself is very tired (wood chip or ageing anaglypta wallpaper on walls in corridors some of which is peeling) and then there are the multiple flights of stairs to be encountered to arrive at the allocated accommodation. (There was no mention of this when booking and minimal assistance to haul luggage).
Although we had booked a superior room with sea view for 3 nights this was not what we were allocated. We were very very disappointed with the room allocated as it was little more than a small room with a tiny bathroom. We therefore approached the General Manager who was extremely apologetic and accepted that our room was not a ‘superior’ but ‘standard’. He said he needed to get to the bottom of things and in the meantime offered to put things right by offering a superior room the following day and our first night’s stay would not be charged.
To sum up, our experience is very far removed from what we were led to believe when booking. Why were we allocated a room that was not in accordance with the booking confirmation. The exterior of the hotel building looks ok from a distance but on closer inspection is very tired with flaking and shabby paintwork/plastic cladding.

Dinner at The View Bistro and Bar
Booked dinner for family of nine in first week of August 2026. The bistro overlooks Hannafore bay with views toward East and West Looe. Very well staffed who were attentive and dealt with all requests. We indulged in three courses. Large choice from each menu with a number of daily specials. Portions were generous and price about on par for what we had observed in other pubs/restaurants in the locality. Would certainly recommend. Kudos to staff member who able to confirm that brand of beans served with children’s meal was Heinz.

DO NOT BOOK A SINGLE ROOM!
The hotel looked lovely online and maybe it is …if you’re NOT staying in a SINGLE Room.
The Single room was £99 for one night and the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. It was at the back of the hotel and the view from the window was a very unkempt ‘garden, with a cement mixer !
The TV was tiny.
Sadly, this room wasn’t vfm. When asked if I could be relocated - the only option was to a bigger room at the front of the hotel at an additional £100 cost.

Not the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in!
We recently stayed overnight when meeting up with friends and booked directly with the hotel bed, breakfast and evening meal for both couples.
Sadly we were not overly impressed!
We didn’t really get off to a good start when we arrived and couldn’t park and was told by the receptionist to double park and leave a reg number in case the vehicle we were parked behind needed to move!
A member of our party struggles getting up stairs so we got into the lift going up to reception, however it didn’t work and we were stuck in between floors. Fortunately, there was an alarm to press and we eventually heard a voice shout “move away from the walls and keep your finger on the button” the lift then very slowly moved to the first floor. We then found out when checking in, that the main hotel lift wasn’t working and had to walk up many flights of stairs to our rooms on the 5th floor, with luggage and no offer of help!
Eventually, we met up for lunch outside on the patio. The food we ordered were very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed it whilst sitting outside in the sun.
Sadly, dinner was not up to the same standard, rubber steak, luke warm fried onions in batter, not the best meal we’ve ever had, however, the young lady serving us was lovely.
Breakfast was pretty much the same, luke warm food, self service buffet.
All in all we were very disappointed with the hotel, which is a bit tired decoration wise, and obviously they should have made sure that the lifts were working or offered a room on a lower floor, especially as the hotel was not overly busy. It certainly does not come up to the stand af its sister hotel in Brixham. Would we stay there again, sadly not.
