Perfect romantic retreat

Just a few days after our wedding, my wife and I stayed overnight at this wonderful sanctuary. Greeted with great warmth at the door, we were made incredibly welcome. If you view our photographs I'm sure you can see some of the reasons that we were stunned into delighted silence when we were shown into the bedroom suite! If anything, the photographs piebald don't do full justice to how luxurious and comfortable the suite is. The bed is incredibly comfortable and huge. The jacuzzi bath is easily big enough for two. We also loved the lovely extras - the bowl of chocolates included in the tea tray, the bottle of decent champagne, in an ice bucket, by the jacuzzi, complemented with a bowl of delicious, fresh strawberries and yet more chocolates. We had a fabulous stay here, a superb night's sleep, and the breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked, delicious, and filling. I simply cannot compliment this wonderful place enough. We will most definitely return here again.

Sykes property not as advertised

Hot tub was 12 days over due from cleaning and on the second day smelt awful.
Bottom room outside the building smelt awful of damp.
Outside top bedroom has plug socket hanging off the wall with wires hanging out , broken shower door and broken toilet holder thrown on the floor .
Top bedroom had all dead flies on the window bottom.
Many toilets had broken seats so pregnant ladies couldn't sit on them
Took the bedding off one bed and there were little bugs .
Dirty towels hanging up
We already had to phone them to sort the dishwasher out when we got there as there were dirty pots inside it and one bed had not been changed .
We had gone for a weekend away as last one together was over a year , we didn't phone the people who rented the property as they'd already been out once , the hot tub would need emptying and refilling and a lot of things were maintenance. It was noting like what was advertised on the Sykes cottage page . Have spoken to Sykes on return who have spoken to the owners and they've not taken any interest .So want to warn other people to look for different accommodation . I would not recommend this property .

Almost but a lucky escape

What a great welcome we received when we arrived at Farm View B and B. Unfortunately, it was from the Golden Lab who was sitting outside looking lonely. We arrived just after 3pm, so seeing as check in was from 3 we thought, well, it’s a sunny Easter Monday, perhaps the owners are on the way back from somewhere lovely, and thats why they aren’t answering my calls. That, I’m afraid was before I noticed the discarded plastic drinks cup in the hanging basket on the window, which still had ice in it. They can’t be that far away as it was a hot day and that ice would have melted by now surely, I surmised. We sat down on one of the outside tables and pushed away the overflowing ashtray, dirty cups and waited. We waited and waited. Maybe we should go to the pub and wait? Plan. We had just driven over 400 miles from The Isle of Skye and just wanted to lay down really. After an hour we returned. Another hello from the lonely dog. This time I looked through the kitchen window. The dog wasn’t lonely, there was a cat in its bed on top of the food prep area. I think the cat or maybe the lonely dog had earlier chewed something to death because the floor was covered in all sorts of bits and bobs. Perhaps the owners were hoping the cat would do the washing up as the sink seemed full of dirty plates dishes. However, she hadn’t …lazy cat. I could see a laptop which had been left on so perhaps this was a game of hide and seek? I peered through the living room window. Either the owners had been burgled by a heavy smoking robber or the owners had had a party. Maybe one of the games was to throw as many baby clothes around the room as possible, I’m not sure. I was beginning to think we’d had a lucky escape as smoking and party games weren’t mentioned in the information about the B n B. We rang the booking site and they said would try to get hold of the owners. I already knew the answer to that one. By this time, we were so tired I started to size up the play house in the garden, but might have had to fight the dog for it, and seeing we had been travelling for 6 hours, I’m sure the lonely dog would win. The booking company phoned back and surprise, surprise, the owners weren’t answering. We finally gave up and just as we were leaving a van drove past the back of the house. Oddly enough for the first-time lonely dog got excited and started barking. The people inside looked away and quickly sped up. That’s not in the rules of hide and seek is it? Hmmm!

Comfortable stay, but waaaay overpriced for what you're getting.

My wife and I stayed there this past Sept. 2018. We stayed in a "lower" room, small but comfortable. Thin wall with the room next door. There are some trailers/caravans down by the stables with a dog inside one of them that barks throughout the night. We got upgraded to an upstairs room that had more space, less flies and the dog barking was less obvious. I think we paid 120 Pounds per night. I compare that to the 85 Pounds we paid at the Harefield Hall 8 miles away and a 10 min. walk along the river Nidd into Pateley Bridge. Harefield was quiet, had a pub with good food, beer and people and a wonderful view of the Dale. Well.....no contest.

Harrogate visit

Sadly we were not too impressed with this B and B. The room was not as described on the confirmation, we spent the first hour getting rid of the flies in the room. Bathroom was like a sauna with no heating controls to regulate. Dogs barking well into the early hours and very very poor sound insulation with the adjoining room. Hospitality at breakfast was good but the quality of the breakfast was low.
Whilst we can see that others have rated highly, our 1 night left a poor impression and we wouldn’t return.
