Good value, quiet room and very decent food

Stayed for a Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, comfortable and looked recently refurbished with walk-in shower. Most of the accommodation is in single-storey blocks, which made for a very quiet night with no noise from people walking around above.
Dinner was good, straightforward pub-style food and reasonably priced. I had three courses and a pint for £36, which I thought was fair for the quality. The restaurant was busy with non-residents and what looked like regular local customers, which is usually a good sign. Service at both dinner and breakfast was friendly and efficient.
Breakfast was another strong point, with a decent choice and the cooked breakfast prepared fresh rather than sitting under heat lamps.
The only slightly eccentric feature was the Wi-Fi, with separate access-point names and passwords for small groups of rooms rather than one hotel-wide network. It worked, though.
Overall, very good value at £88 B&B on a Sunday night and I would happily stay again when visiting the Dumbarton/Helensburgh area.

Reasonable value for money hotel in Dumbarton

The hotel is located within walking distance of Dumbarton East railway station. Parking facilities are available. My room was of a decent size with an ensuite. It was clean. The wi-fi worked fine. There was a kettle in the room but no fridge. however the staff were happy to store my Faroese smoked salmon in their fridge. Restaurant on site - but others are available near the station.

Clean room, staff very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast amazing. Plenty parking. Great meals and choice at restaurant.

Our first choice any time - thanks to all of the staff

Due to the Commonwealth Games 2026 our initial stop Glasgow was pretty much booked out. So our choice fell to Abbotsford Hotel and it a proofed to be a great and lucky choice. Glasgow can be reached easily by train (or bus) with the train station within walking distance (approx. 10 minutes, bus stop just across the road).
We felt welcome and comfortable in every way. The room was clean and beds were great. The ladies at reception were very helpful with advises and information, Mr. Tom on his nightshifts was great to talk to - we both seem to be nightsowls;-)
While dining at the restaurant having our very first (and wonderful) haggis the chef provided us with unexpected information which would make every Formula 1 fan happy.

Convenient location outside the airport that we used on our first day in Scotland to adjust to the jet lag. Older hotel. Nice bar and restaurant.
