Overnight for wedding
We were guests at a wedding at this spectacular venue and stayed in one of the lovely comfortable rooms. Everything is beautifully designed to give a rustic but elegant feel. Breakfast was good too

Mediocre experience at best !!!!
Pretty average/mediocre expedience tbh
We were almost the only people in on a Sunday evening at 7 pm other than a large party who were having a special menu by the look of it. If it wasn’t for them we would have been the only customers
My wife ordered the superfood salad. The waitress told us they had sold out…..of a salad !! How can you sell out of a salad if you have a decent chef on ????
I ordered the roast pork loin (one of the roasts or the day) and asked for a side of cauliflower cheese. The waitress then told me that they had run out of cauliflower cheese too !!!
Again. Same comment. How on earth can you run out of cauliflower cheese if you are a proper restaurant
Lots of previous reviews mentioning poor choice/lack of availability and we wish we had gone to the Indian in Barney !!!!
I have given the smithy three stars as it wasn’t poor but 2.5 stars would be a better score
To make matters worse the waitress cocked up when bringing the drinks and the lad on duty who brought the bill then left us for ages when I wanted to scan my card/phone…..after ten mins of waiting to pay (after getting the bill) we went up to the bar to pay !!!
Loads of places to eat in Barney and I would advise you (the visitor) to go elsewhere and try somewhere that cares more about doing a proper job

Not particularly good value
We have visited here before and found the food and service good ...but on our latest visit we were very disappointed the table we sat at was occupied by a cat and when we asked a staff member if she could possibly move it for us as we were intending to order food she said she was scared of getting scratched and asked us to move to another table instead ....we chose another table but we're offered no water that everyone else had so had to ask for it ...the food was nice and we ordered 2 extra sauces which were 2.95 each on the menu but when we paid the bill we were charged 3.50 each for them ...as the food and drink is already expensive an extra £7 for 2 very small sauces was a bit much ....so on the whole we won't go out of our way to go back and suggest everyone checks their bill before paying and definitely dont try and sit on the cats table

Honestly don’t know where to start,
Sammy, Alysha // Apartment Group
Elle & Ian // Runa Farm.
we got married on 24th July 26. Alysha & Sammy from Apartment group were absolutely brilliant from the very start of the booking process right to the very last moment they went above and beyond more than we could ever describe. We had situations occur which were more than stressful for everyone involved in planning our wedding & sammy & alysha have the patience of absolute saints. They really are a massive credit to the company and apartment group are so lucky to have genuine kind people like these two. Sammy was a massive help and alysha all the way through the planning process, they did so much more for us than they should have in reality and we will always be so thankful and we will never forget them.
Elle & ian wow, i honestly dont know how these 2 do it. Id never met these two people before and we only spent 1 day with them and we will truly never ever forget them. We were both emotional wrecks on the day & these 2 are a dream team. They made us both feel so comfortable and went above and beyond to settle us and make our day as special as it was, we couldnt thank them enough if we tried. They are unbelievable characters who genuinely love their jobs and there is nobody else better than them two at it. From the constant reminders from ian that im punching with my now wife, to re doing our wedding cake due to a bad wedding cake maker, to catching ian baby sitting so some of our family could relax for a short while. The little things they say and things they do to calm your nerves, doesnt go unnoticed. Im really trying to find the words to describe how great they are but i honestly couldnt if i tried. We cant wait to see these 2 people every year for our anniversaries, they are a joy to be around. We wish we could do it all over again. Thankyou for everything we could not have done it without you both.

Lovely venue but overpriced
We attended a wedding last week and it was a fantastic day. Venue is beautiful, staff attentive and friendly. Is the accommodation and drinks value for money, no. Courtyard rooms are tiny, sliding door to bathroom, which didnt provide a lot of privacy. We upgraded to a superior courtyard with hot tub for £50. Room bigger but still not a big room. Hot tub area wasn't big enough to swing a cat, struggled getting the lid off due to lack space. In the end I think the room cost £305, for which id have at least expected a nozzle on the hairdryer...most people are there for weddings and need to do their hair after all. Drinks...£4.20 for a coke, £7ish a pint, £12.50 a glass of wine. You expect to may more at a wedding venue but for the above I wouldn't choose to return.
