Lovely stay .not modern but traditional and clean .staff was very helpful and pleasant and breakfast was delicious…would definitely recommend

Recent one night stay

Firstly, the photos on the Expedia website are not accurate at all . The place is more shabby than chic and it definitely needs to be updated. The place itself is very faded and requires a refurbishment. The price does not reflect at all the hotel.

Not the wonderful place it probably was

Unfortunately, the experience here was not as good as we had hoped. The website shows a well set up hotel with designer rooms and lovely conservatory dining, sadly this was not true, the room I was in was basic and cold despite telling the manager. The towels and bedding had seen better days and there were niggly things like the missing half of the toilet flush and open windows that wouldn’t close, Our table was covered in a plastic tablecloth and the napkins were cheap flimsy paper ones. The food was as far from fine dining as you could get and my Dover sole had never seen Dover and would have served better as the sole of a shoe. On top of all this we were given the menus the all inclusive guests were having when we should have had the a la carte. Not a good experience. However, the breakfast and cleaning staff were lovely and very helpful.

The property is obviously old. But the room was well kept, clean ans everything worked. TV was small but we never turned it on.
Breakfast was through the shop, which I never knew was there. But cooked to order, fast and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful
Stairs were creeky but its obviously an old hotel, door was locked when we got back but I was happy with that.
Would stay again

A very idiosyncratic hotel - you'll either love it or hate it! We had a suite, which was very grand and spacious, but was showing its age. The evening meal was outstanding - David the Chef / part owner is excellent. Few others eating there, though, so a bit lacking atmosphere.
