A true gem in Alentejo

Our stay at Assumar Country House was truly exceptional! Walt and Hilde are so warm, gracious and engaging. From the moment we arrived we felt we were at home. Their house is beautiful, and the garden is lovely and peaceful. You hear the sounds of nature all around, and the views of the countryside are gorgeous. Our room was very spacious, extremely clean and comfortable. Hilde is an amazing chef and baker, and we were treated to her delicious creations every morning on the veranda. Walt was very helpful giving us valuable tips about local sites, routes and restaurants. You can't ask for a better lodging experience in the Alentejo region. Highly recommend.

tranquility, hospitality, authentic Portugal

This is a bed and breakfast with that little bit more.. super nice. spacious, clean and cool rooms.. a luxurious breakfast, served on the terrace by the lovely host Walt. He'll make sure you don't want for anything. (Hilde was unfortunately not there, but she had provided super delicious gluten-free bread and cinnamon rolls)

Home away from Home

Assumar County House is a great place for a quiet getaway and chilling. It's an old typical Alentejo House, all renovated, everthing is extremely tasteful, thoughtful and cute. Has a great green space around and a pool. Walter was very kind and gave us good activity and food reccomendations, namely the waterfall Pego do Inferno. We felt very welcomed and relaxed, which was the goal. Highly reccomend !

Beautiful Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this charming accommodation. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally clean, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making sure we had everything we needed. One of the highlights of our stay was the lovely pool and garden area. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind in a peaceful atmosphere.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. If you’re looking for a quiet, clean, and comfortable place with a personal touch, I would highly recommend Assumar Country House.

Amazing experience

Highly recommend the place, a beautiful oasis in Alentejo, easily reachable by car. Walt and Hilde were kind, respectful and always available, can't recommend them enough.
Much like rest Alentejo, there is a tranquility and wellbeing atmosphere that once you experience it, there is nothing like it.
Walt and Hilde did an incredible restauration job while preserving the original character of the building and providing all the comfort of a modern villa. The master bedroom was one the best rooms we have been.
