Top local option

As stated, it's a top local option but very far from a worldwide top local option. Cajamarca city is well below other cities with pre-european heritage as Cuzco, Puno, Trujillo or Chiclayo. Maybe close to Nazca.
Hotel is very clean and room is spacious, elevator is slow but in general is pretty good and staff do their best.
Photo attached is from hotel restaurant. It's a sort of Cesar salad with "camarón" (river shrimp more tasty than sea shrimp) and instead of usual parmesan there in cheese dices.

Terrible food and service at Los Salas restaurant in Cajamarca

Hello, I was staying at the great continental hotel from 03.04 to 05.04.24. The rooms are comfortable, clean, but the breakfast food, they served it cold, the scrambled eggs, chicken, meat, anything they had, despite having the food placed on the chef and dish was cold, you had to tell him every time you went down to eat that it warmed up. In my case I have a high protein diet, I asked the lady to make me an omelet with 4 eggs and her answer was that it couldn't be done, that there should be 3, my other colleagues were told that there was no eggs. No other alternative. It also happened, we ordered breakfast a la carte, breakfast with tenderloin, scrambled eggs, etc., the tenderloin was tough, I told the waiter and there it stayed. Their customer service gives a lot to say. I didn't imagine that with 4 stars I would have this type of attention. I hope they can improve.

Great experience

Very nice hotel. Great service and excellent facilities. We stayed there for 4 days. Nice room service. The have a 24 hour room service. I ordered a club sandwich at 1200 and it was something else, delicious. 3 blocks away from main square. 10 points!!!!

Gran Hotel Continental Cajamarca

This is a comfortable hotel of three stars rating in one of the central streets of Cajamarca, city located in the province of the same name. The service is friendly and homey, the costs are reasonable and the food in the restaurant is good. Breakfast is plentiful and available from an early start. The downsides to the hotel would tend to be that the rooms are pretty dark and can be cold in winter. There is also a lack of power point connections in the rooms.
The internet is free and reasonable.
The rooms are large and the beds comfortable.
The central location of the hotel is a big plus - only a few hundred metres from the central Plaza de Armas and many good restaurants.
Worth a stay.

Very disappointing for the price

I stayed here for business recently and was disappointed to find that the hotel website is quite misleading in the pictures it selects. Most of the rooms do not have windows onto the exterior and are like little caves. The whole thing is empty and echoing. The staff do their best and are friendly but the building itself is depressing.
