Good price and nice rooms
We didn't know what to expect since we were paying a relatively small amount (50 Riyals/night) for a family room (2 adults and 2 kids) including breakfast but we were pleased.
The service was excellent and the guys on the front desk were always smiling and happy to help. The room was large, spacious and clean and the beds were king sized and very comfortable. The hotel has some restaurants attached to it which are not luxury but they are good. There is a juice place which does delicious fresh juice, a fast food place which does average food and a traditional Omani place where you can go in and sit on the floor in your own room and eat with your fingers in Omani style...it was an awesome experience. These restaurants aren't part of the hotel but seem to be owned by the hotel or at least have a deal with them as they also deliver to your room 24/7.
On our last day we even asked to check out later and they were fine with this and didn't charge us extra. The only bad thing was the breakfast which was strange and not of the highest quality...but you could have toast, cereal and some fruit at least...just avoid powdered eggs and mashed potato!
All in all a great place for those who don't want to pay through the nose to stay at the Hyatt or somewhere similar and the staff really do seem to care!

Nice
I booked with my family (3 adults and 3 children). Rooms are clean. Service is good. Living room is small. A narrow sea view is possible from some rooms. A television in each room. The internet is not stable. I will book again in march 2016 if abailable.

Clean and well priced.
TL,DR: Clean room and affordable for families. Safe area. Breakfast is really unimpressive. WiFi included!
Started off with a weird smell in the room but you get over it. There was a pungent smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom, not sure why but we sprayed some pleasant odor spray and it was fine.
Floor was clean. Beds and sheets were clean. Room came with 2 double beds, a fridge, a water boiler for tea and a large flatscreen with couches. All in one room but it didn't feel crammed at all.
We had an unimpressive view of walls of other buildings but we weren't in Muscat to look out the window. There are super markets and places to eat nearby if you have a rental car, better to get super market food and make your own sandwiches in my opinion.
Went to look for the fitness center... yeah, it's advertised but was told it was "under renovation". Couldn't even find a room on the floor that was under renovation, it was all offices.
Breakfast was unimpressive at best. Included: beans, mashed potatoes, more beans, eggs, hot dogs, powdered lemonade and tang, bananas (yay!), orange slices, toast, butter, corn flakes and rice Krispie cereal. Does the job but definitely should not be a deal breaker although it was included.
But WiFi works, is fast and included!
Quick note: security was questionable as whenever we asked for a room key, they never asked for an ID and we didn't see the people at the front desk before, no name, nothing. Just "what's your room number". Shows the trust, and level of safety, I guess, but nevertheless, food for thought.

A value for money hotel
Al Reef hotel is close to Muscat International airport and it is clean and comfortable. Their breakfast is good and you can have it as early as 6.30 am. The hotel is located near to Abaya(Long dresses for ladies) shops. Worth visiting these shops with excellent tailor service as well. There are a number of eateries and big supermarket nearby too.

A Meduim Level Good Hotel
I stay in this hotel two or three times. I got a good reception and a good room. Room was clean and tidy. Toilets are also good enough. I stay there one night and the next day I left. In my experience the good is good enough.
