The Riverstone is Canterbury's only 5-star motel (awarded by Qualmark - the official NZ tourism quality assurance organisation). All accommodation is ensuite and we are only 20 minutes' drive from Christchurch Airport.

A Great Stay!
A superb stay at this motel. The hosts were very friendly, the room was spacious and extremely clean, it took no time to heat with the heat pump and the facilities were all that you needed. It was also very quiet even though it’s near a main road. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Comfortable accommodation in well appointed room and wonderful hosts.
Let’s not beat about the bush.
The Riverstone Motel in Rangiora is one of the best motels in New Zealand.
It’s not just its spacious room spotlessly clean and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed that give it this top honor; it’s the people that run it that gives it the edge over most other New Zealand motels.
Mike and Charlotte are such wonderful hosts that the minute you meet them, you feel you have been old friend for many years. Nothing it too much trouble for Mike and Charlotte to make sure you stay is perfect.
No wonder it is the only motel in Canterbury with a well-earned Qualmark 5-star gold rating for immaculate accommodation and sustainable tourism
Having stayed at The Riverstone once, you will make it your Rangiora home for ever.

You certainly had a very active holiday and made the most of your trip. A great stay
In Rangiora visiting family and friends.
Excellent location in Rangiora. Next door to a Restaurant, supermarket, and cafe across the road. Lovely clean rooms. Very quiet considering it is on a main road. Comfortable bed, and the room had everything you could need and more. Hosts are excellent, and we will definitely stay again on out next visit. Many thanks

LOVELY MOTEL
This is a lovely comfortable Motel, 5 minutes drive from the center of Rangiora.
The hostess is wonderful, she went out of her way to accommodate our needs.
We were in a 1 bedroom studio apartment upstairs, it was immaculate, lovely furnishings, very comfortable bed, good kitchen facilities and an excellent shower.

Wonderful stopover!
The Riverstone is a spotlessly clean new motel run by a charming couple, Charlotte and Mike. The king bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchenette was very well appointed.
The owners were very helpful with dinner recommendations, and Mike went above and beyond to help me out with change for the onsite laundry. They couldn’t be more accommodating!

Hi Mary & Geoff... thanks so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review of your stay at The Riverstone. It was super lovely to meet you both and we're stoked you enjoyed your time with us! We replaced all our beds and bedding over the winter this year (Jul/Aug 2025) and a delighted that all the reviews that mention the beds are positive We love it when we have Americans to stay as you folks generally always ask for ice... and having defrosted our freezers that day, we were just pleased that the ice maker had kicked out some cubes just for you!! We hope you had a good trip to Kaikoura and enjoyed the remainder of your Kiwi holiday
