Hotel Montebello is situated in the peaceful Oslo district of Ullern, 500 metres from Montobello Metro Station. Montebello Hotel is directly connected to Radiumhospitalet Hospital and is the official patient hotel.

Parking is a pain if by car.
The room was large and very clean. Bath was like a hospital bath with all the handicap accessories. You pay for parking down the hill in one of the buildings of the hospital.
Breakfast was standard fare and a little limited. Overall it was reasonable for Oslo.

Scary that they don't have enough room for cancer patients and poor service.
I was in for examinations in early November and needed a place to be/sleep for 3 days. Even called the hotel to hear if there was room available for me. This I think no patient should have to deal with on their own, as one has more than enough to deal with in a situation that cancer sick in greater or lesser degree. That should be arranged by the radium hospital. The lady who answered me seemed almost overwhelming that I called to book a room and answered only.. No, it's full here, so you have to find another hotel. Something I did in the center and I felt very uncomfortable,when I was alone in an unknown place.
A little while later, the date for surgery comes and I call to get a room at this hotel for me and my relatives. Said that I would like to book rooms from date to a few days after surgery with accompaniment. She replied No. Here we don't have any available rooms and there won't be any. You get a rim at Ullevoll patient hotel, there are 4 buses per hour up here.
Been then fucked up and called to a number inside on Radiumen. There I spoke to a cosy lady and learned that I was not going to any patient hotel, not any bus after surgery and stay lying in the department. A relative has arranged a room with a friend in Oslo.

Stay at Montebello.
A lot of bad food, and little friendly staff in the kitchen.
Otherwise very okay to stay at the hotel, as it is easy to get to the hospital.

SCANDAL FREE - UNCLEAN KITCHEN WORKERS - HOPELESS RECEPTION
This hotel I would strongly encourage its owners to make significant changes in relation to the employees.
1: STANDED IN THE RECEPTION FOR 5 MINUTES WITHOUT THE PERSON SITTING INSIDE THE OFFICE SEEING THAT I WAS THERE. FINALLY I CALLED THE RECEPTION, IT TOOK A LONG TIME BEFORE THE LADY IN THE BACK OF THE OFFICE ANSWERED..., AND THEN I SAID PLEASANTLY:
HEY, THERE IS A LOT TO DO AT WORK TODAY? YES, ANSWERED THE LADY I WAS WATCHING. YES, BUT MAYBE YOU CAN COME OUT TO ME AT THE RECEPTION TO HELP ME, BECAUSE HERE IT'S ONLY ME...... THEN SHE GOT PLUMB RED IN THE FACE, BUT SORRY SHE DID NOT.
I WAS REALLY ANNOYED BY THIS BEHAVIOR, FINALLY SHE ASKED ME: "DO YOU HAVE A ROOM OR NOT?"
2: WITHOUT ANSWERING, I TURNED TO GO INTO THE "RESTAURANT", WHICH BEARS A CHARACTER OF AS MUCH PERSONALITY AS A CANTEEN IN THE DEPOSIT. THAT DAY IT WAS CHOPS ON THE MENU, WITH ANOTHER DISH OF SAUCE RICE - MAYBE IT WAS CHICKEN? "HOT DISH BUFFET". CHOPS WHICH WERE COMPLETELY DRY, POTATOES WHICH WERE HARD, CARROTS WHICH WERE SLICED, "THAT'S IT"
3: NOTHING IS BETTER THAN THE WORST LINK IN A CHAIN. THOSE WHO PREPARE THE FOOD THERE MUST HAVE EXAMINATION PAPERS PURCHASED ON THE OPEN MARKET. INDELICATE AND NOT SERVICE FRIENDLY. THE TOP OF THE CAKE WAS THE ONE LADY BENDING DOWN TO PICK UP SOMETHING ON THE FLOOR, THEN PEELING OFF THE SHIRT. IT WAS PUSHED WELL INTO THE FAT ASS CRACK WITHOUT GLOVES AND THEN WALKED AWAY TO WHERE THE FOOD WAS, TOOK A FORK AND MOVED OVER TO A NEW TRAY OF DIFFERENT FOOD..... I WAS STRAIGHTENING AND QUITE SICK OF WHAT I SAW . THE FOOD I HAD PLACED ON THE PLATE STAYED, I COULDN'T BEAR TO EAT. I THEN WENT TO THE ELEVATOR AND DOWN TO THE RECEPTION WHERE I ORDERED A TAXI TO TAKE ME TO THE HOLMENKOLLEN HOTEL INSTEAD. THEN IT WAS A TAXI DOWN TO THE RADIUM HOSPITAL THE NEXT DAY FOR TREATMENT.
THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD-AND I ADVISE ANYONE CONSIDERING THIS PLACE ANYWHERE ELSE.

I stay regularly at this hotel as I am a cancer patient and gets treatment at the next door hospital every fortnight.
The rooms are very modern in a bad way, cold style, simple, cheap-modern and awkward designed. Poor lighting for reading, the tv is misplaced, the remote control rarely works, bad taste or no decoration at all in room, with echo sound and it seems as nothing has been done to make you feel at home.
There is a constant summing/buzzing/wizzing noise in the room that can make any sane person go mad!
The food is ok, but at breakfast the simple but nice marmalade or jam on toast is not an option.
The seating in the restaurant is not particularly nice. No atmosphere.
I get to stay at the hotel (for free) as part of my treatment (and because of long travel distance). So I am very grateful. But now it’s time for me to express my frustration on the atmosphere and service at Hotel
Montebello.
