Storefjell Resort is located next to Storefjell Ski and Sledging Centre, only 20 km from central Gol. Guests can enjoy free private parking and access to the pool, gym and sauna access.

Stunning view
Very large hotel at the top of a hill, with a magnificent view. The room was decent, as was the food; the very varied buffet offered a wide choice of dishes.

Immersed in Norwegian nature
We stayed at this hotel during a tour in Scandinavia, we stayed one night, the hotel is immersed in nature, very large both externally and internally, with huge spaces and endless rooms (disco, ballroom and live music, game room, etc.), it reminds one in some ways of the hotel from The Shining, the room (ours on the first floor) was huge like a small suite, the breakfast quite varied, the only flaw is they don't have croissants, brioche, cakes, etc. View from the dining room wonderful. Beautiful!

Poor service, no H&S, completely inflexible and unhelpful
We were with a large Exottica group of 36. This hotel is completely inappropriate for the number of people they were hosting that night. They are entirely inflexible and have no intention to try to accommodate groups.
As a perfect example, our group had to leave by 7.25am (ferry booking) but the hotel would not open for any form of breakfast before 7am. They pointedly didn't open at 6.58am when they first approached the doors but turned away and waited the two extra minutes. Can you imagine trying to queue for and pick from a breakfast buffet (with other early diners) then actually eat it and then be ready with your cases in 25minutes?! NO. And thus many had a quick bowl of yoghurt, or nothing, and left.
Evening meal had been equally regimented the night of arrival and had again been totally inappropriately laid out and staffed. The hot buffet line has two sides but only one side had been filled and used ..... for the 100's, literally, of people causing, queues up and down the room. They were far too slow to fill empty containers up.
To be fair and open the evening buffet food was varied and tasty. I can't comment on breakfast as I only got yoghurt.
The house red wine (from a box which said Valpolicella) was awful. My partner and I had a glass each. I guess maybe not many people drink it and it was the last of the box but as the "house" is supposed to be showing it's reputation with the house wine, then this is a house with a poor reputation.
Service - I asked at reception about swimming pool opening hours and for directions. The man didn't mention towels or offer any and so when we went down I then had to go back to reception and collect some. Deliberate or just lacking in service ethic, who knows
Spa - towels per above. A dowdy out of dare area with three hot tubs full of warm water but none of them working (ie bubbling). Steam room doesn't work and the separate M/F saunas have to be put on and awaited for 15 minutes.
As for our room (we had requested a double but got two singles that couldn't be moved together!) room 248, some idiot with no idea of customer health and safety had attached the headboard to the wall and put a lamp over it with the pointed brass end actually being at head/pillow level - accident waiting to happen. The beds themselves were so flimsy that they rocked - pretty much like put you up camp beds.
Maybe this hotel doesn't need to make any effort due to the minor family ski resort on site and the captive summer market but it is dowdy, lazy, dated and poor quality in comparison to hotels that work at their business and that malaise seems to have passed down to the staff.
I will be feeding this back to Exoticca in the hope that they can source a more appropriate hotel somewhere on the route for future tours.
