A true Home Hotel
The hotel is located right in the city center and is easily reachable on foot from the train station, in addition to being very convenient for all city and long-distance bus lines.
I was welcomed by a well-maintained historic property and, above all, by the staff, who handled the check-in very professionally in a very short time.
The room assigned, 358, was a Comfort room with extremely generous dimensions and, in general, was well cleaned. The bed was very large and extremely comfortable, and the room is well-insulated from outside noise. The bathroom, however, is very cramped, with a walk-in shower.
Unfortunately, the bathroom does not match the style of the property.
The common areas convey the long history of the property and provide a very deep sense of hospitality.
The breakfast is very varied and features quality products.
The fika was very much appreciated, with delicious sweets!
Dinner also offers good products; you just need to pay attention to the time to avoid peak hours.
The hotel has room for improvement: I am thinking of the cleaning of details in the room, such as the kettle lid and the hair dryer, or the maintenance of some parts, such as the small terrace.
I am giving the highest score anyway because I truly felt at home and the staff was always welcoming and professional.

No refrigerator and no phone in the room
Stayed here for 4 nights. Breakfast was okay. Afternoon tea with 2 choices of cake. We skipped dinner a couple of times. Salad bar buffet, 1 hot meal item with a side of potatoes and vegetable.
We booked a deluxe room. The room size is good but there is no refrigerator. I've been told by their staff that when they refurbished the hotel, they decided to get rid of all refrigerators in the room.... to save money on electricity?
There is no phone in the room. Thus for international tourists like us, we had to email them for any questions or needs or else we'd need to pay for international call rate to call the receptionist down at the lobby.
Cleaning..... must notify the receptionist by 10 p.m. the night before to have our room cleaned.
Bed..... this is the absolute worst for all Norwegian hotels. Be ready to sleep on a pillow top mattress. It's soft and super uncomfortable. It's not attached to the mattress like American pillow top beds, thus it moves and has absolutely no support. The absolute worst type of bed for those with back or neck problems. Not sure since when the beds in all hotels in Norway are like this. I did not recall sleeping on pillow top beds on our 1st trip to Norway. Been a long time ago but checked with a couple of my friends and none of them remember sleeping on a pillow top bed.
Location..... it is good....next to a small shopping mall with a small movie theater. We saw a couple of movies there at night.... all in English with Norwegian sub-titles.
Overall, Bodo is a quiet place and the only attraction is basically the tidal current and whirpools of the Saltstraumen which is almost non existent. A strong current happens only 4 times a year according to the boat guide. But the experience being on that boat alone is fun.

Perfect location, but small and dirty rooms
We stayed three nights at this hotel. Good value for the money with breakfast, afternoon coffee and dinner included in the price. Yet, small rooms, porr cleaning (dirty in general and dirty room), and not so attentive personell when we told them about our issues (not fixed, or took days before they where attended to). Had one more night booked here later on our trip, but cancelled and rebooked at another hotell.

Without a doubt the best hotel in Bodo.
I assume you're reading this as you're considering staying at the Home Hotel Grand Bodo and are working on comparing it to the other hotels on offer. Let me save you lots of time - This is absolutely the best hotel in Bodo. Its spotlessly clean, the staff are brilliant and it has undercover car parking. However, what really makes it stand out is the food. Breakfast is a high quality buffet. There's free afternoon tea and cakes and a free evening salad / soup buffet. With the cost of food in Bodo being so high, these value-added things alone make the hotel stand out. Really looking forward to going back.

Apparently child-friendly
Hotel with history, soul, central location and good food as they offer breakfast, fika and dinner. Apparently perfect for families with young children. Unfortunate that the two days in a row run out of food long before fika is over, as well as that drink dispensers from breakfast stand visible but without you can use them. Water, coffee and tea are served to adults under the fika, but we are denied a glass of milk to the 1.5 year old who looks at the milk dispenser with big eyes. Get notified that they offer coffee liquid on a room-temperated mug. The family rooms that have both a bed and a sofa bed are spacious, but it shouldn’t have been allowed to offer sleeping space on such hard mattresses as the sofa beds have. Here you know the wood through the mattress. Missing also a small fridge in the room. Since they do not clean every day (which is totally ok!) we had also needed an extra garbage bag for bla bla diapers, but this was not possible to get from the reception when we asked about it. All in all, not as child-friendly as one had hoped for anyway.
