Isolated, But Panoramic View Of Lake & Mountain

As we drove from Nay Pyi Taw to Loikow. It was hard & strenuous drive. We decided find a place. We found this hideaway on the banks of the lake. Very basic. No restaurant. Do not expect much. But breathtaking views of the lake.

Best Pekon Hotel

Pekon is a small town at the west bank at Southern Part of Inle Lake. There are hardly any attraction in town. Princess Resort seems to be the only hotel located at this town which is idealistic located facing the Great Lake. The view is breathtaking. The rooms are simple and basic. The dining area provides good view of the Lake. The star of resort is a herd of ducks belonging to hotel owner swimming around the bank of the lake infront of the hotel. It is interesting watching them moving about in formation. We stayed for a night before heading toward a resort located in an island in the middle of the lake.

3 to 4 times too expensive

We had to stay here as the other place in town was full. Dirty room, dirty bed so we had to use our bed sheet. No WIFI. Quiet place and loved the 26 geese "talking" the all night !
Good breakfast taken on the terrasse facing the lake with rising sun.
The good think is that we asked to be picked up by boat from the hotel for the trip to Nyaung Shwe.

quite isolated place

We stopped by for one night in this city beside a big dam. The hotel arranged for us to go for a boatride to the big island where the locals are building some huts for opening guesthouse for tourists. There is no electricity there yet so it might be a very rural experience. Across the hotel is an old monastery where we went to offer donation and pay homage. The dampness of the lake cannot keep the rooms well aired. The breakfast is good as they prepared omelette as ordered.

A night stay on beautiful scenery

On the west bank of Moebyel Dam, the hotel is well located. After 5 hours drive from Nay Pyi Taw, we have to rest before entering Loikaw which is one hour drive away. Sitting on one of the chair at the hotel’s restaurant ( which is not in service ), looking through beautiful dam on the background of mountains, we are all refresh. Cold drinks and snacks bought from the town is a must. Hotel is clean, good air-con, hot shower and bathtub. Staffs are nice. No wifi. Enjoyable one night stay.
