The hotel flaunts ancient bagan, a distinct myanmar architecture and has two ancient pagodas in its lush tropical garden. its dark teak wood exteriors and inlaid sculptures of mythical figures are interconnected with archways of tropical plants and trees. all comfortable rooms and suites are individually and tastefully decorated in traditional myanmar style, using teak wood and artefacts. the hotel has a number of restaurants serving myanmar, thai, chinese and other international fusion cuisines.

Family of 4

We stayed in the family room- 2 sets of bunk beds with shared bath. The room was small but provided everything we needed as a family of four (2 adults + 2 teenagers). When not in our room or exploring we enjoyed taking in the view by the rooftop pool or playing pool in the lobby. A simple but tasty breakfast buffet was included each morning and the reasonably priced lunch and dinner options were also enjoyable. Great location with a variety of local restaurants and shops in the area. Our only complaint was that the free bikes are not very well maintained. Other than that I highly recommend this hostel.

Good hostel

Good hostel and nice place to meet people ! Although the room could be a bit more clean (they change the sheets after each guest but do not clean the room everyday) and the bathrooms as well. Staff is not very friendly and need extra training to attend correctly guests needs.

Amazing hostel, highly recommend!

Amazing stay at Baobabed, would definitely recommend. Privacy in dorms, free bicycle rental and breakfast. Rooftop pool was great, as is the food served throughout the day. Great location! Friendly and helpful staff, greeted us at 4am when we arrived early from our night bus and showed us to a temporary room to sleep. Kai (sorry if misspelt) the owner is lovely and such a laugh, joined us for dinner one evening and told us all about Myanmar and Bagan! Thank you, we will definitely visit again!

Try this hostel - now called Baobabed

We had a private room (208) - room was comfortable with good bed and nice bed linen - bathroom was well fitted out and spotless ... good location and free bikes is a bonus along with free coffee and tea whenever you want. The hostel has a good buzzy atmosphere and is busy with a range of travellers.
Staff were really helpful and good at arranging bus and excursions. Breakfast as simple but good too and the cafe served good coffee.
Only criticism is that our room was below a staff work area and was very noisy from 6am so avoid room 208
Otherwise thoroughly recommend this hostel

Great Stay!

Great location! Near the Temple Ruins, Train and Bus stations.
Good breakfast and nice staff. They also offer a reasonably priced Bus trip to Mandalay and Yangon. They offer free bicycle to use and nap room for very early check-in or late check-out.
