Perfect location - not far by bike or cab to the beaches. Lots of sargassum on the beach when we went so we’re happy not to be staying by it. Close to town. Very safe area. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and big. Pool is great fun. Breakfast each day (included for us) was excellent. Would stay here again for sure.
Cabs cost about $20/$25USD to beach or town but you ride a bike (free) or walk.

Kimpton Aluna is officially a "One and Done" for us.

As an IHG Platinum Ambassador, my status was ignored at Kimpton Aluna Resort, making the “Ambassador” perks feel meaningless. Switching from Marriott Platinum to IHG has been a letdown; service here is indifferent.
The resort offers serene, green vibes and good housekeeping, but staff apathy ruins it. Check-in was unfriendly—no upgrade despite <50% occupancy. My 1pm checkout was overlooked until I begged due to transport needs. Breakfast was mediocre, food menu poor. The rustic pool bar felt dilapidated, and the sky bar’s chatty servers left guests waiting—on Valentine’s night, I timed their talks amid empty tables.
Worst: towels had an unwashed odor, raising hygiene doubts. If you seek elite care, skip this. My last visit—can’t wait to leave.

Soooo disappointed with this place

Stay elsewhere! Everything advertised by this hotel was a sham! There was no yoga, no beach clubs and no bars open. They didn’t even tell us until I arrived that as of April 16 it was no longer a Kimpton property so we didn’t even get points for the stay. It was a huge disappointment all around.

Everyone was so pleasant! The breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt and some additional items were delicious. I enjoyed the social hour and took the opportunity to talk to a couple of people. Jose and another concierge made perfect recommendations for excursions.

The breakfast was fresh and tasty. Orders made from scratch. The fruit was freshly cut and not from frozen or refrigerated. Pool areas a cabanas were also clean.
