Excellent hotel!

I stayed at the Hotel La Casa de Maria for nine days in early May 2025. I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it. The place was tastefully decorated, the rooms were immaculately clean, the location was excellent, and the staff was friendly and polite. First I stayed in the "Esmeralda" room which nice but when I extended my stay I was given the larger "Ambar" room. This is a small boutique hotel. My only criticism is I found the mattresses hard and I prefer a softer more plush mattress. The water pressure was good, there was always hot water and the large screen TV worked fine, and this being a warm part of the year having Air Conditioning was appreciated. When I return to Oaxaca I will only stay at La Casa de Maria!

WARNING cancelled booking on arrival day

WARNING!! They cancelled my booking.com reservation the day I was due to check-in (4 hours before). They adjusted my booking dates, and said I was a ‘no-show’. The only contact I received was through an automatic booking.com alert. Leaving me in high-season with no accommodation.

Very nice staff that makes a difference.

We stayed at the hotel only 1 night, yet the hotel kept our luggage for 5 days at no extra cost while we were travelling elsewhere. Everybody was willing to help us with the luggage, the rooms was very spacious, clean and extremely quiet at night despite of its central location. La Casa de Maria has also a great patio that seems not to be used a lot by other guests - go to the rooftop and enjoy nice views.

Leaves A lot to Be Desired

We stayed at La Casa de Maria in Oaxaca de Juarez Oaxaca. It is in the center of town. We had the "Turquesa"room, 2 double beds and a couch. No king size beds here that I know of. The air conditioning did not work well at all. The room did not cool down until 4 a.m. It was very hot in Oaxaca when were there. The room is large. The one positive about the room was the shower. Nice & hot water and plenty of water pressure. But not air conditioned. No hot water in the sink only a little trickle of water when you turn on the hot water valve. The bath towels were like sandpaper and quite old. No. need to bring your exfoliant. They advertise that breakfast was included, but no breakfast. They do give you bottled water everyday. It was clean and a cute atmosphere but air conditioning to me is quite important. The workers were all very nice but the owner needs to invest some money on upgrading the place. Within walking distance to the 20 de Noviembre Market, churches & zocalo. When we do go back we will stay elsewhere.

Book without hesitation

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for over a week. We appreciated the personalized services of Ricardo and Aurelio who keep the hotel humming. If you book with breakfast included you will not be disappointed. Hotel is clean and within walking distance of El Zocalo, churches and museums. Although it does not have an in-house restaurant, there are plenty of options within walking distance.
