The location is poor, on the farther outskirts of the city center. The elevator did not work during our stay.The room was small with NO decor of any type on the walls. There was no coffee maker in the room (as described in the Expedia listing). The bathroom toilet was cracked on top, and clogged easily. Mirror in bathroom was rusting out with spots marring the surface. Towels, although large, were extremely scratchy. Shower temperature was lukewarm, at best. Our room was streetside, and was very noisy all night. The "fitness center" only had two treadmills, and the room doubled as a storage room for mattresses.
Air conditioning did work. The staff was friendly, but had limited English speaking skills. They did try hard to answer questions, but it was a good thing I speak some Spanish. The room was cleaned with fresh bedding daily. The little cafe next to the hotel was nice, with very good and reasonable prices, and very friendly service. We were glad it was there as the hotel itself did not offer any meals.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars (instead of 1) is that the price for our 5 night stay was very reasonable. But if we were to vist Merida again, we would definitely choose another hotel, even at a higher room rate.

I didn't have the best experience but it may be a coincidence because of my room

The hotel looks really nice also decorations are pretty good but there were a couple of flaws. Room was too narrow, shower smelled of moisture. My room was facing the road and the noise was too high, especially in the night. We stayed for only one night

Location easy to find your way back to.

Pool in central courtyard area good size and depth to swim diametrically across or around. I did see the staff cleaning it in the morning but by early evening there were a fair number of leaves floating.
Corridor outside room door big puddle(they overwatered the pot plant!!).Cleaning staff removed all my towels and did not replace. Had to request toilet roll to replenish. The cleaning team were pleasant and sorted it out ,no major issue ,and sign language understood by all! Only one staff member spoke English.
Rooms adequate, not spectacular but everything needed
Breakfast served ,on request, at the adjoining coffeeshop/bar. Not very imaginative but was prepared fresh .
Central location for exploration on foot, immediately surrounding roads a little run down but small cafes, two theatres and cathedral area very near.
Stayed two nights at end of a group tour.

Dead Cockroach in Room

A dead cockroach in the room. That's all I have to say about the cleanliness of the room. If you take the hair dryer out of the holder, it falls off. Although business room had the view of an ugly backyard. The other window had no view at all. View of wall.

Mold smelling rooms.

The room was smelling mold. The walls were wet and moldy, ragged. Rooms did not have any special view of the city. Breakfast was poor, had no speciality. The only positive feature is the location of the hotel, but I would advice to spend time to find a better hotel, located at a similar distance to the centrum.
