Great Family Atmosphere with Some Room for Improvement

Our family of four (two adults, two children) enjoyed a pleasant Thursday-to-Sunday stay at this very family-friendly resort. The location is excellent—situated in a private, quiet bay—and we loved the authentic atmosphere, as most guests were Mexican nationals rather than foreign tourists. The rooms were clean with a nice, simple design, and the overall value felt fair for the price point.
The service across the front desk, restaurants, and bars was incredibly friendly and courteous. However, pool-side service was lacking; we expected more proactive staff offering drinks or snacks. My biggest disappointment was the beverage quality—most cocktails, including Margaritas and Mojitos, were pre-made rather than fresh. For a "premium" resort, I’d recommend mixology training for the bar staff. 
Pro-tips for future guests:
• Reservations: Book the specialty restaurants the moment you check in, as they fill up fast.
• Dining: The Mexican restaurant was the standout. The Italian restaurant is the resort’s "version" of Italian rather than authentic cuisine.
• Check-in: Be prepared for a bit of "security" questioning at the restaurant podiums, even if you have your reservation slip in hand.

The room was clean. The staff was very nice, beach view was amazing, we had a very hard time with the key cards, they only worked sometimes, had to get help a few times to let us in, food was just ok

Didn’t get towels until we asked for them 3 times, Rooms were dirty mainly the bathrooms , food was not the best but also not the worst.. pool is too small for the sizes of the hotel, bars did not open until after 11am and drinks where not that good.. night shows were good.. interteinment during the days was so so… overl all expensive for what we got..

This hotel needs to be upgraded. You can tell that nothing has been done in a long time. The card to the room wouldn’t work. The shower didn’t have a shower head. I had been at this hotel when it had a different name and that was a 5 star hotel back in the day. The current hotel is like a 3 star. It is deteriorating.
