A Wonderful Stay in the Heart of Tangier – Exceptional Staff and Hospitality

I traveled with my daughter and stayed at El Minzah Hotel from late July through mid-August, and I can’t say enough good things about our experience.
The hotel has a beautiful charm, combining its historic Moroccan architecture with modern touches. Some areas appear to have been recently renovated, while still preserving the character and elegance that make the hotel so special.
The location is also fantastic—right in the heart of Tangier. So many places are within walking distance that I hardly had to use our rental car during the entire stay. It made exploring and enjoying the city incredibly easy and convenient.
What truly made our stay memorable, though, was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. A very special thank you goes to our housekeeper, Farida. She was extremely attentive to every little detail and always made sure we had everything we needed. She truly made us feel at home, even though we were thousands of miles away from home in the USA.
Partway through our stay, my daughter decided she wanted to switch rooms so we could have a better view of the ocean. The staff made the entire process so easy for us. Madame Sanae, the housekeeping manager, was especially kind and even helped us move all of our belongings to the new room—and we had quite a lot of stuff after staying for several weeks! We really appreciated her kindness and willingness to help.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add a little more variety to the daily breakfast buffet. The breakfast was good, but during a longer stay, having mostly the same selections every morning can become a little repetitive. Moroccan cuisine has so much to offer, and it would be wonderful to see more of that variety incorporated into the breakfast throughout the week.
Overall, my daughter and I had a wonderful and memorable stay at El Minzah. Between the beautiful hotel, excellent location, and especially the warm and caring staff, we truly enjoyed every moment of our time there.
We will definitely be going back!

Best hotel in Tangier

I had a great time at Hotel el minzehTangier. The hotel is very well located, the rooms are comfortable, clean and offer a beautiful view. Breakfast is varied and good quality, and the facilities are pleasant.
I would also like to thank especially the receptionist, who is a very friendly, professional and always smiling person. His warm welcome, availability and sense of service really made the difference and made our stay even more enjoyable.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation and will come back with pleasure during my next visit to Tangier

Sadly this hotel continues its downward trend.

We have been coming here for 30 years with varied experiences over the years. The trend has definitely been downward for the last 10 years. Older staff have been replaced with younger and less experienced who don’t seem to embody the same traditional standards of hospitality ( with the exception of one or two). For example, the doorman was scrolling on his phone while we were struggling to get in the front door with a child in a buggy. Cleanliness is also a bit of an issue around the hotel and is definitely not at 5 star level; more 3 star. The pool experience is also not pleasant. The constant ‘trance dance’ music blaring out of the huge speakers from late afternoon until late in the evening is horrible. The pool is also not exclusive to guests which makes it crowded and even although we came with our 3 year old grandchild who loves the company of other children on holiday, found it intimidating being jumped on by unsupervised older children. In addition, the quality of the hotel food is definitely not 5 star level although the prices are well above! On a brighter note, there are still one or two members of staff who go over and above to make guests feel special; and traces of the el Minzah’s noble heritage are still visible in the courtyard area. We enjoyed the musical and dance interlude during dinner. Not sure if we will be coming back here or staying at one of the newer hotels. Reading back, this may sound like a review from an entitled perspective but it has always been a real treat for us coming here and it is just a reflection on how the hotel has changed, unfortunately, not for the better.

I would not stay in this neighborhood or at this hotel ever again. Staff are inattentive and rude. Amenities are bare minimum and it was hard to just get towels when entering the room. Never received hand soap for the entire stay after multiple requests. Breakfast was good and staff in this area was good but quality of food was okay. Overall, the hotel should be reviewed by Minister of Tourism for how it poorly represents Morocco and its hotel industry.

El Minzah is a hotel steep with tradition and one of them must not be hospitality.
The front desk was not helpful and rude at times.
It was our Anniversary and nothing was done for us, not even saying “Happy Anniversary” or “thank you for staying with us on your special occasion”. They were well informed of our Anniversary in writing over a week in advance. Every other hotel we stayed in in Morocco did something for us whether that was a complimentary upgrade or a cake or flowers or spa. Absolutely nothing at El Minzah.
So the hotel is located in a very rough area of town and you definitely need to be careful around there at night. I would not choose the hotel again if everything had been great, just on the location alone.
Now we entered our room in probably the worst area of the hotel you could be placed in with no view of anything….no the ocean view or the pool or the park next door. Nothing. We had no towels or hand soap in the room when we arrived. We asked for them and only towels came after about an hour. We asked multiple times again for the soap and never received the hand soap our entire stay. We got fed up of asking so we had to use our own that we travel with always.
Breakfast was good and the staff in this area was helpful where they could be. Not enough tables in the place so our second day we had to stand and wait for 20 min before we could eat.
Management at this establishment is really bad and the hotel should be reviewed by the head of Morocco tourism.
