A magical stay at Riyadh Dar chourafa

We stayed at Riyadh Dar Chourafa in February 2024 when we were traveling with seven friends. It was low season, so we were the only ones in the hotel. Very clean hotel, clean linen and towels, bathroom in the room. Manager Abdullah met us in the center and escorted us to the hotel. While we were driving, he was constantly worried about when to meet us, he was afraid to miss us. The hotel is in the heart of Chefchaouen, but difficult to find in the maze of the medina. We set up a table in the hall and had a great time. Abdullah turned out to be a company guy and the life of the party. He taught us Moroccan dances, sang songs of his own composition - in general, he made our vacation unforgettable! He was always worried about whether we felt comfortable enough and prepared tea. In the morning I prepared delicious scrambled eggs and tea with scones. He was very hospitable. I highly recommend this authentic hotel if you want to feel comfortable and cared for!

Pleasant stay

I feel bad giving an average review as the location ,staff and views were all excellent.
We arrived by foot as no real cars are allowed within old town apart from delivery and work trucks etc
In general Chefchaoen has a lot of steps so bear in mind if infirm etc
It’s not we’ll signposted as part of the writing had worn off the small sign so only for Google maps we would have missed it
Nice young lady checked us in we were the only guests for the duration of our stay
It’s very basic accommodation so don’t expect 3 star or more
We had a room with a double bed and a single bed . They were very comfy and I slept very well
Breakfast was included and delicious. Fabulous
coffee , fried egg ,varieties of bread , jams olives croissant and cream cheese and was served on the very top roof terrace with the most spectacular views over the city and the rif mountains and Spanish mosque up the mountain (we hiked there for sunset it’s a must do imo )
Now I have to mention why I can’t rate it a higher rating
It really needed a good cleaning the floors were not clean so walking barefoot it felt dirty
We had plumbing problems on arrival with wash basin and also there seems to be a leak somewhere around the pipes, wash-basin or toilet throughout our stay, so there was constantly a wet floor
Shower was hand held so not good if you have long thick hair that needs washing and conditioning lol
I feel it’s such a beautiful spot if bathroom was fixed and it was all cleaned I would definitely give it 5stars

A wonderful experience

Anass was a great host. He picked us up from the bus station and took us to our riad. He was always available to assist us, even when we got lost on the streets he came running to take us to our destination. The place is located in the medina, close to everything! Check in and check out process was seamless, and Anass was always checking in to see if we needed anything. A clean place with a beautiful terrace view

Mint tea on the roof as the sun goes down ...

Mint tea on the roof as the sun goes down ... a great breakfast on the roof to welcome the new day ... what's not to like? The rooms are comfortable, the staff very attentive, enjoyed chatting with the guy who was eager to help and quick to offer refreshments.
It was a little difficult to find, but that's part of the charm of Chefchouen ...

Trip to Chefchaouen

The staff were friendly, the girl welcomed us at the door and the guy who made us breakfast was nice and warm.
The rooms were simple but do represent the city with the simple decor.
We got two rooms one upstairs and the other one was on the first floor. The top terrace was cool, the rooms were tidy and clean however the room in the first floor did not have hot water but it did not bother us because it was hot and we had two rooms so we had a shower upstairs.
The breakfast was simple but it was a nice gesture.
Overall, including the price paid, was not bad.
