Wonderful stay at the San Karlu
Fabulous stay at the San Karlu. Close to all amenities this is a quiet hotel. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast is a buffet style, great fresh selection. Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Air conditioning is fab!! This hotel’s is exceptional clean too
This hotel was great value for money. I would stay here again and highly recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Value Hotel in a Fantastic Valletta Location
This hotel was very good value for what my boyfriend and I paid.
Every member of staff was incredibly friendly and always happy to help with anything we needed. They gave us some great tips on what to see and do in Valletta, and they also offered luggage storage and a slightly later checkout, which was really helpful as we had a late flight.
The location was brilliant. It was around a five- to ten-minute uphill walk to the centre of Valletta, putting us in a fantastic location with plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby. Despite being so close to the city centre, the hotel is tucked away on a side street, so it was relatively quiet.
The hotel was very clean, and housekeeping was always punctual. Our room was upgraded on arrival, which was a lovely surprise, and it was very comfortable and well air-conditioned.
The free breakfast was a nice touch. It’s worth noting, though, that it was very basic, with not many options to choose from. The coffee from the machine was very nice, though. If you’re looking for more variety, I’d suggest making use of the fridge in the room to store some of your own breakfast options, or heading into the city to try some of the local cafés.
The rooftop pool was really lovely, and we were always able to find sunbeds. The happy hour was also great, with €5 cocktails. The poolside food was similar to the breakfast in terms of variety and quality, but still a nice option to have when you’re relaxing by the pool.
Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay. The friendly staff, excellent location, clean and comfortable rooms, and lovely rooftop pool made this hotel a great option for the price we paid.

Hospitality at its best, thanks to Daniel
Huge shoutout to Daniel, the Guest Relations Manager. He was buzzing with energy from the moment we arrived and made sure we were taken care of throughout our stay. His recommendations were spot on, whether it was where to dine, where to pick up souvenirs, or where to go sightseeing. He took the time to actually curate suggestions specific to us rather than just handing out a generic list. Genuinely can't rave enough about him, he represents the pinnacle of what hospitality should be.
Ashish at reception was also fantastic. He helped us a lot during checkout, with our luggage late at night, and with arranging our cab. Small things, but they made a real difference at a point in the trip when we were tired and just wanted things to go smoothly.
A couple of things on the facilities side weren't quite up to the same standard. The sliding door in the bathroom was wobbly and at one point came completely unhinged, I had to hold it and put it back in place myself. Also, our room only had one window, and it opened onto the courtyard that other guests and staff walk through, so we ended up keeping it shut the entire stay for privacy.
Breakfast was great overall, the staff were attentive and took good care of us even though I didn't catch their names. One suggestion: the tables in the outside dining area could use leveling out. With coffee and food on the table, we kept worrying something might tip or spill.
One more minor thing, and I'm nitpicking here: the person helping with our luggage at check in took it down the stairs a bit roughly, bumping it on all the stairs, and it picked up a few scratches. I'd offered to help since I knew the bags were heavy, but was told it was fine.
Honestly, the facilities issues alone might have had me leaning toward 4 stars, but Daniel and Ashish elevated the whole stay enough that this is an easy 5 stars from us.

Really really well located hotel, right next to a taxi stand too. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Had a really nice stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at the San Carlo Hotel. It’s a lovely hotel, very well located right in the centre of Valletta, which makes it easy to explore the city on foot.
A special mention to Michael, who was very friendly and gave me some excellent recommendations on places to visit and things to do. His suggestions were really helpful and made my stay even more enjoyable.
For anyone renting a car, the parking can be a little far from the hotel, but it’s only about a 10-minute walk, which really isn’t a problem. In fact, it’s quite nice to walk through the city every day and take in the surroundings.
The breakfast was also good and a great way to start the day.
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend the San Carlo Hotel, especially for its great location and friendly service.
A special mention to Michael, who was very friendly and gave me some excellent recommendations on places to visit and things to do. His suggestions were really helpful and made my stay even more enjoyable.
