Highly Recommended
Room- very tidy and Excellent design
Wifi- excellent speed
Location- Good,Located in the sub road , very calm and quite place even though you are in the city
Restaurant option- Average, But u have got Plenty of restaurant option near to the hotel in 1 km distance
Service- Good, Professional and welcoming staff, Few of the staff speak English and the rest can speak only French and Malagasy

A good surprise in Diego
We have booked a room in this hotel as the 2 major ones we used to book were full
The hotel Victoria is located in the center of the city, not far from the Rue Colbert.
A very good surprise : the staff are nice and helpful. WiFi is available in the room.
The room itself is very large and has a A/C conditioning.
All in all, a good and quite hotel.
I hope they will develop the business and offer restaurant in the future.

Beautifully renovated hotel in colonial building
This hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood and a mere 5 minute walk from the main strip where most hotels and restaurants are. It is not a bad or unsafe neighbourhood at all. Just because the streets are not well lit doesn't mean it is unsafe. Besides: there are 2 security guards posted at the hotel throughout the night (which is the case in most hotels in Madagascar).
The hotel itself was completely renovated in april 2014 (it used to be Hotel Emeraude) and I must say they have done a great job.
The room is spacious with a beautifully decorated high ceiling and classy furniture. It contains a minibar, safe deposit, strong aircon, desk, 2 chairs, table and a big bed with good mattress. The bathroom is outright huge with a very large open shower.
There is also a good wifi connection in the room.
Staff is helpful and friendly.
Like all hotels they organise excursions (prices are advertised on their website) but there was also a pricelist in the room for excursions with a separate tour operator but we felt those were way too expensive.
We did however take the daytrip to Mer d'Emeraude with the hotel and thought it was good value.
For the daytrip to the 3 baies and the Tsingy rouges we hired a car ourselves because that daytrip was overpriced both with the hotel and tour operator. There is a car rental agency in the same street as the hotel (where they are washing their 4x4's every day, can't miss it) where we paid 120000 Ar + fuel for a 4X4 with driver for the whole day. This way you can drive around the 3 baies in the morning, have lunch in Ramena and then head to the Tsingy rouges for the sunset.
All in all is the Victoria hotel great value for money and if I ever go back to Diego (which is a nice town especially for Madagascar standards) I would definitely stay there again.
The only point of criticism I can think of is breakfast which was too expensive for what they served. But that is an issue you will find in a lot of reviews of Malagasy hotels.
To end on a positive note: after checkout the hotel gave us a lift to the taxibrousse station which was appreciated.

Nice little refurbished boutique hotel; bad location
The rooms are modern and clean, stylishly refurbished by its French owner. The wifi is fast and free. The breakfasts and breakfast salon are airy and pleasant. This is all great value for money as the price is quite low too. The staff are very attentive flexible and super nice, especially the driver/handyman guy. He's wonderfully helpful. The main drawback is LOCATION. It's away from shops and restaurants even if the Main Street is a short walk on the map, in reality, it's a scary walk you don't want to do in a dilapidated and quiet neighborhood. There's 2 bad restaurants adjacent and even then I was afraid to walk outside 3 meters in the dark. And the restaurants are BAD. I got stuck ordering bad pizza for dinner a couple of times when I was back from a day tour out at the parks. during the day as a solo female traveller, I hired a tour guide just to go shopping on the Main Street and to a restaurant. I hope the area improves with time bc the hotel is quite cute and the staff are pleasant. I did question on arrival and at breakfast the presence of girls that looked like prostitutes which is not the kind of company I care to be in so I hope this is discouraged by management and that staff dress appropriately.
