A very relaxyng stay

We had a very good 3 nights stay at this B&B.
It was a little bit confusing to find the pension because our navigation system didn't recognize the number of the street but you actually don't need the street number, it's ok just to drive on Goce Delcev and you'll see Villa Amsterdam.
The room was fine, not very new but clean and with good view to the pool and garden. Also a baby-cot was prepared, as we requested. The balcony was very pleasant to relax in. Unfortunately there is only a plastic table with two wonky plastic chairs in the balcony, but it was ok because I took the chair from the room and used it for sitting and reading in the evenings. Really quite, calm and nice atmosphere.
Breakfast very good with lots of cold cuts, jams, omlete, juce, coffee, etc.
The very highlite of the B&B is the pool and the garden. Very well mentained by the owners, with lawn and lots of fruits (sour cherries, raspberries, red currant, etc). So our toddler got his everyday fruits meal for free.
The access to/from city center/old city can be easily done with taxi. It costs 100MKD (aprox 1,5 EUR), do not be deceived if any taxi driver will ask you a higher amount, don't offer more than 100MKD, this is the right price.
The city is kinda exotic and gives you the feeling that you just got to the sea. The lake is huge and offers you many options for entertainment and having fun: boat trips on the lake, swimming, sunbath, paragliding, beaches, etc. Also the old city with its fortress and old churches is a must see. Prices are very low comparing to west Europe countries. A regular lunch for two in a restaurant don't exceed 15-20 EUR, including 2-3 beers. If you want maybe a wine or some specialties, then the price can be higher.
We highly recommend Villa Amsterdam and the city of Ohrid.

Black mold on ceilings

Totally not client oriented stuff. Especially wife of owner. Air conditioner for extra cost - 5 euro per day
Be carefull on the ceilings there is a black mold.
Cash only. Owners dealing with normal customers as with robbers.

Lovely family hotel

A big thank you to Miliana, Shemsi, Denni and Sarah for looking after us during our stay in Ohrid. They were very hospitable and couldn't do enough for us,thank you again and we will look forward to seeing you again as Ohrid is certainly a place we will be revisiting

Felt let down by this hotel by poor quality

I arrived and was i formed that the free airport service was inly if you stayed four nights ok. But then i got charged 700 dinars when a taxi is only 400. The quality of the accomindation is poor and you are in tge middel of a housing estate no free water or fruit. Would definitely stay in the old town next time . Nice couple but feel let down by the service and in the heat of summer no fan or aircon its hard to sleep . 20 minute walk to centre if you walk quick

Lovely family hotel

Great family stay at Villa Amsterdam, Mirjjana and her family make you feel very welcome, pick you up at the airport, and look after you. I stayed in a three bed room with sofa bed, and balcony with my two teenagers and we had a great time. Hotel is about a km walk to the main centre/harbour area with all of the shops and restaurants, but there is a 24/7 shop within 500m. Hotel has nice swimming pool and gardens with fruit trees and a friendly family feeling. Ohrid itself is a lovely place, fantastic lake, great churches and scenery and good shops and market. Restaurants are very cheap compared with UK prices and the bars pleasant and good value. I've read that the place takes on a whole new atmosphere once the summer properly arrives (and was glad to see it before it did). Off season - nice safe place with beautiful scenery, loved it. If you are the sort of person that requires the facilities that an expensive UK/US hotel offers then don't come to Ohrid, it is suited more for the traveller/tourist than the luxury package/tourist. And long may that last !
