great stay near Palanga
We have spent two amazing days at the Zelve Village, a true oasis in the Lithuanian forest, a small eco wellness resort surrounded by greenery and located in the small, depopulating rural village of Zelviai, a 10-minute drive from the seaside resort of Palanga, a refuge where relaxation and detox are the key words surrounded by a dense fir forest and you can enjoy absolute silence.
We were struck not only by the kindness and helpfulness of Ausra and her daughter Elze, but also by the concept of sustainability: the property has its own vegetable garden from which it harvests organic, zero-mile products used in the excellent cuisine.

We liked the surroundings.
However, we were disappointed that there were no quiet hours. There was loud noise until 1:00 a.m., which made it very difficult to relax with children.
Breakfast was a disaster. After being seated, we waited about 15 minutes just to receive the menu, then another 15 minutes for the waitresses to come and take our order, and finally 30–40 minutes for the food to arrive.
We explained that we were in a hurry because we had to catch a ferry, but they didn’t even acknowledge it. Instead, they served other guests who had arrived after us.
We will not be coming back.

Gastronomic side of our stay
If u think that fine dining gastronomic destiny point place has to be always a posh dining room with small microscopically detailed dishes - think again or just visit Zelve Village & Spa. The dishes present in the restaurant area are full of cosy comfort in every bite with the highest level of cooking. Every food we had is focused on a seasonal, fresh produce, part of which (for now as they have some amazing plans to widen the range of food products sourced or grown on the territory) is sourced within the Village territory. The whole gastronomy technique reminds me of cosy restaurants in France, where you can find real foodie treasures and gastronomic excitements in elegantly simple food.
What about the breakfast, we can simply call it “perfect start of the day”. Breakfast menu is delightfully short (which guarantees perfect freshness and carefully thought threw every dish in the menu). We were able choose 2 dishes from the menu every morning, which gave us lucky opportunity to taste all the dishes in the menu. Please don’t miss the opportunity to try the eggs Royale, on a beautiful home made bread, with home made cured salmon, poached eggs and amazingly light like a cloud Hollandaise sauce. Also our other favourite was porridge with caramelised bananas and sea salt - healthy, beautifully balanced breakfast. Scrambled eggs we tried on our last stay day was complete in perfect French manner, a little bit runny, super fluffy, with just a right amount of butter.
After such a beautiful breakfast we couldn’t miss and opportunity to dine in the restaurant in the evening. We were delighted by beautiful, attentive service we received as soon as we stepped into the restaurant. Restaurant itself has a beautiful minimalistic interior full of wood, fine lines and little elegant accents. Irmantas and other members of team were just amazing through out this gastronomic experience. Irmantas gave us perfect beverage suggestions and didn’t make us stop smiling all evening long.
The chicken that we had for the main with the creamy mustard sauce was something incredible! (Applause to the chef).
Deserts deserve a separate mentioning. We tried to different deserts to explore more on the menu. Desserts called “Zagarelis” and chocolate cake were out of this world. So elegant, so full of flavour, well balanced textures flavours and shapes - these deserts are just to die for, nothing less. Perfection on a plate. Didn’t enjoy a desert so much for a long time. All in all, we were happy to be a part of this experience and if you like gastronomy as much as we do, if you like carefully sourced ingredients, superb comforting food on a highest level, please consider our recommendation and visit Zelve Village&Spa.
