Best desert experience ever!

My fiancée and I went to Jurdan at the end of January 2022 in the middle of the covid crisis in Europe. We took a flight from Geneva to Aqaba and decided to visit the desert of Wadi Rum. We decided to contact Mohammad who told us to wait for him at the entrance of the village of Wadi Rum. We dropped the car at the entrance and then went into his pick up towards his home inside the village. We were welcomed warmly by his cousin and his 11 months old wolf Saddam!! Mohammad is a true Bedouin from Wadi Rum and is a perfect guide to explore the hidden treasures of the area!
Later in the afternoon after having asked us what we want to do and showing us in particular the various options for our stay in the conservational area (climbing, hiking, spots, camps) we took the road again and stayed in his camp for one night. We had an amazing stay there and had a genuine experience with locals in the main tent drinking tea and playing cards while enjoying the cold and clear nights of the desert.
The next day Mohammad organised a camel ride with one of his Bedouin friend within the Jabels surrounding the camp. It was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend doing it for a few hours in the early morning to get the perfect light as we did. In the afternoon, Mohammad took us with his pick up to have a meal at his mother’s. The lunch was fantastic!! In the afternoon together with the rest of the guests (who joined us during the lunch until then we were alone) we ended up visiting the secret spots of Wadi Rum known nearly only by Mohammad allowing us to have a visit without any tourist. It was a mind blowing experience being alone into the wild desert. Finally we headed towards Mohammad’s camp for the night which I must say is top notch in terms of size, comfort and location. Finally, the next day we decided to climb the highest mountain of Jordan namely Jabal Umm ad Dami and successfully attempted the climb thanks to the organisation and great advice of Mohammad and his cousin.
In summary, Mohammad is the perfect guide for your stay in Wadi Ram and in particular if you would like to go off road and have a different experience than the mainstream tourist spots. In particular, would you like to sleep in caves, climb and hike Mohammad is the go to person in the are! We definitely recommend Mohammad for anyone wishing to travel there.

Really good stay. Our host was excellent - very knowledgeable with excellent English. The rooms were basic but comfortable - excellent value for money. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. Toilet and shower facilities also good.

We arried too late and in the dark it is difficult to get to camp. Really advise not to go to wadi rum in dark. Had uncomfortable experience with someone stopping us and giving false info.

I stayed at Wadi Rum for one night. The owner provided dinner for me free of cost because we arrived late. The dinner was chicken, rice and vegetables along with ample amount of tea. Mohammad, the person running the camp was a nice man and we had a pleasant conversation along with a Polish family. The camp is basic with no amenities in the bathroom but thats the whole point of camping. This is not luxury camping but the people running the camp are very hospitable. I paid through hotels.com and there was some problem with the payment to them but they said that its ok and even if they dont get a payment via hotels.com i have paid so thats fine. They are truly hospitable people and i was glad to stay with this camp. I would also request Hotels.com to process their payment.
