Unusual and eye opening

When i first booked, I expected small bed rooms and a funny bath system. My family were genuinely surprised by the communal style system - pyjamas, common rooms for eating, napping, massage chair, computer and comic reading etc. Extra charges are required for reflexology, facial, body massage etc.
In a society where the apartments are very expensive and small, I can understand why the place is very popular with young japanese. Staff doesn't speak English at all, which made the overall experience more fun - there are formal rules on bath times, buffet and informal etiquette on noise, clearing tables after playing board games / drinking etc.
Even my kids enjoyed the experience as they played board games and explored the new homely environment.

Neither the bathroom nor the changing room seemed clean.
There was a lot of hair on the floor, so I had to walk on my tiptoes.
The ceiling was covered in mold.
The air conditioner was covered in dust,
and I don't think you could use a hair dryer underneath there.
Also, I think the outerwear provided in the building is reused.
They didn't wash them one by one, and people would put them back on the original hangers after using them.

Unusual experience

Overall it was a lovely place. However the staff does not communicate in English, and they are very strict about check in times. The hotel offeres a spa and relaxation area and so most of it's guests are young couples. Every guest recieves a pajama set, which gives the feeling of a cult, seeing everyone in matching uniforms. The baths are shared, so it us not recommended to people who are shy about sharing baths. The staff was very kind and tried to help as much as possible

Highly disappointed がっかり！古いせんと！

昔のせんとなので
少しリフォームしたかんじ！若者が多いので 全然ゆっくり出来ないせんと！ラブホテル見たいなかんじでした。温泉じゃないですが。高い、食べ物おいしくないです。ざんねんですけど おすすめには出来ないです！
This place used to be called as Gokyoraku, meaning a Sento spa. The water here is not hot spring or what you call in Japan as onsen. I used to come here almost three times a week when it was originally a Sento. Now it's called Ofuro cafe utatane and such an unusual place. They just reformed or renovated the lobby and the rooms here but the spa, bath tubs inside and outside plus the sauna are all old built year 1997. The rooms here are like cheap business motel, tiny like you can imagine. The food set was cheap and the price you pay for this Sento is expensive. This place gets crowded with young Japanese couples who are so irritating to watch as they are noisy, flirty with each other . Come on this is like a cheap motel with a sauna and big bath tubs and not onsen/ hot spring. I don't recommend at all. Waste of money.

most unusual

Has to be the most unusual accommodation experience to date! This is a combined relaxation therapy cafe offering all sorts of packages all in japanese with little English spoken by staff. When you arrive you will find a mass of young people lounging around in matching attire/pajamas provided by the cafe. You get these pajamas with the accommodation as well for use in the onsen....felt like we were part of some kind of cult wearing them....just wierd. rooms are clean but very average shared bathroom onsen. Please note to check in is very late at 6pm and not a minute earlier... out by 10am
