Attractive spaces, helpful staff and great location
I stayed for four nights in an attractive, spacious twin room with a couch, small table and chair, and a desk with another chair. The bed I used was comfortable and I liked the pillows. There were nice big mirrors, a good artwork, lots of clothes hanging space, one drawer, a small TV, a safe, and a mini fridge. I didn't have to add water to the humidifier which was a bonus! The WiFi was good and there were ample power sources with a triple adapter provided.
There was a nice city, railway lines and hills view but the criss-cross wire through the glass made it very difficult if not impossible to get good photos of it.
It was great to have a coffee capsule machine with small mugs and four capsules per day, as well as roast and green teabags and lovely tea bowls with lacquer saucers, and an electric jug. (I did find I had to press the button on the coffee machine twice to get the usual small cup - as opposed to espresso - size.) Also there were two glasses and two beakers.
The deep bath was plastic but very suitable for a decent soak. There was a separate shower area and nice complimentary facial products. The usual amenities were also provided, except no shower caps, cotton sets or face cloths.
It was a bonus to have access to a washing machine and clothes dryer. The dryer was cheap to use but the clothes were still damp after an hour, and there was nowhere to hang them in the room except on the towel and wardrobe racks. A retractable clothes line would've been useful.
The breakfast buffet had a good variety of choices.
Staff were pleasant and helpful, with some English spoken. The hotel lobby had interesting displays linked to Nara's culture, history and artisanal work, with sitting spaces to relax, and the soft toys on the reception desk were very cute!
I was charged for a staff member arranging my luggage forwarding. It was a very small cost - only about 300 yen - but I mention it because it's the first time I've ever been charged for that service across dozens of hotel stays in Japan.
The convenience of the location, part of the JR Nara Station complex and on the same level as the ticket gates, cannot be overestimated if you're arriving and leaving on JR trains and also want to use them for day trips. And of course, big stations in Japan provide much shopping opportunity! It takes 20 to 25 minutes to walk to Kasuga Taisha or Todai-ji, with many other sights along the way, or you can catch one of the clearly indicated buses at the station. Additionally, the Nara Kintetsu Station (which is convenient for many prefectural sights) is a few blocks away.

1/10 – DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF PAYING CUSTOMERS
We visited Hotel Nikko Nara’s SERENA buffet today for lunch with our family, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. This place does not like non-Japanese tourists, regardless of how much money you spend.
Our server sent us the wrong way, and when we followed instructions, an older worker tending the other side rudely signaled and lectured us like children to go back. We were doing exactly what we were told! We’re paying customers who deserve respect, not to be treated like we’re invading their territory.
When we complained to the manager about this horrible, rude treatment, he didn’t care at all. Zero apology. Zero attempt to fix the situation. Absolutely indifferent to our complaint. The staff’s attitude was condescending and unwelcoming.
The buffet itself might have 25 dishes, but who cares when the staff treats you like garbage? DO NOT GO THERE. If you are not Japanese, spend your money anywhere else. There are hundreds of other restaurants in Nara that will actually treat you like a human being.
This hotel clearly prioritizes nothing over making tourists feel unwanted. Avoid at all costs. Your family dinner will be ruined by staff who think they’re too important to be polite.

Welcome lounge opens from 2 to 7pm with local sake and wine for free. We stayed with 3 people and we each had a bed and room was still spacious enough with couch and separate bath and toilet. They also have public man made Hot spring. It is not the latest model but very well maintained and convenience as it is 2 min from station.

Delightful Hotel
An extremely well situated hotel if arriving by car or train together with its own parking.
Good sized room with all amenities. Breakfast to die for and a decent restaurant.
Staff very friendly and very few international guests.
